Conservation-Dissipation Formalism for Soft Matter Physics: II. Application to Non-isothermal Nematic Liquid Crystals

open access: yes, 2019
To most existing non-equilibrium theories, the modeling of non-isothermal processes was a hard task. Intrinsic difficulties involved the non-equilibrium temperature, the coexistence of conserved energy and dissipative entropy, etc.

Isothermal and non‐isothermal consolidation of carbon fiber towpregs [PDF]

open access: yesPolymer Composites, 2001
AbstractThe purpose of this work is to establish and validate a model to predict the isothermal and non‐isothermal consolidation behavior of unidirectional towpregs, made of carbon fibers and a thermoplastic polymer. A Finite Difference Method program was devised based on a set of analytical expressions developed in a previous work.

Three-Dimensional-Printed Instrument for Isothermal Nucleic Acid Amplification with Real-Time Colorimetric Imaging

open access: yesMicromachines
Isothermal amplification methods have become popular in research due to the simplicity of the technology needed to run the reactions. Specifically, loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) has been widely used for various applications since first ...

CHEMICAL REACTION EFFECTS ON FLOW PAST AN ACCELERATED VERTICAL PLATE WITH VARIABLE TEMPERATURE AND MASS DIFFUSION IN THE PRESENCE OF MAGNETIC FIELD [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering and Sciences, 2012
An exact solution to the problem of unsteady hydromagnetic flow past a uniformly accelerated infinite vertical plate with variable temperature and mass diffusion are presented, taking in to account the homogeneous chemical reaction of first order.

Isothermal remanent magnetization and the spin dimensionality of spin glasses

open access: yes, 2010
The isothermal remanent magnetization is used to investigate dynamical magnetic properties of spatially three dimensional spin glasses with different spin dimensionality (Ising, XY, Heisenberg).

Dynamical Structure of Viscous Accretion Disks with Shocks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We develop and discuss global accretion solutions for viscous ADAF disks containing centrifugally supported isothermal shock waves. The fact that such shocks can exist at all in ADAF disks is a new result.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Nuclear Incompressibility in Asymmetric Systems at Finite Temperature and Entropy

open access: yes, 2005
The nuclear incompressibility $\kappa$ is investigated in asymmetric systems in a mean field model. The calculations are done at zero and finite temperatures and include surface, Coulomb and symmetry energy terms for several equations of state.

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.
