Benzoyl‐Xanthenoxanthenes: Versatile Chromophores for Light‐Engaging Applications
Oxidatively stable benzoyl‐fused peri‐xanthenoxanthene ribbons with NIR emission were synthesized. Their good spectral overlap enabled cascaded Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) antennae in a nematic liquid crystal phase, achieving directional energy transfer.

Nonheme Fe enzyme isopenicillin N synthase was reprogrammed and evolved as an efficient nitrogen migratase IPNSNim, converting diverse azanyl esters to valuable l‐arylglycines with up to 16 000 TTN and 97:3 e.r. IPNSNim and ACCONim allowed enantiodivergent preparation of both l‐ and d‐arylglycines.

Unexpected Dual Function of Plant YUCCA Enzymes Links Chlorophyll Catabolism to Auxin Homeostasis
YUCCA enzymes are well known to catalyze the main step of auxin biosynthesis in plants. Here, a hitherto undescribed dual function was discovered, revealing that some YUCCAs also act in chlorophyll degradation. In vitro feedback regulation furthermore suggests a link between chlorophyll degradation and hormone homeostasis and a physiological role of ...

Salt Cluster With Surface Defect Shows Anomalous Acid–Base Chemistry
The acid displacement of formic acid in sea‐salt aerosols, releasing HCl, challenges conventional acid–base chemistry. Our gas‐phase experiments show that this reaction occurs on pure NaCl cluster ions in the absence of water. Surface defects of the NaCl cluster ions enable this reaction via enhanced electrostatic interactions of the salt ions with the

Isotopic Labelling of Confined Carbyne
Angewandte Chemie, 2021AbstractCarbyne is a one‐dimensional allotrope of carbon consisting of a linear chain of carbon atoms bonded to each other with exceptional strength. Its outstanding mechanical, optical, and electronic properties have been theoretically predicted, but its stability has only been achieved when grown encapsulated in the hollow core of carbon nanotubes ...
