Photoisomerization-mediated tunable pore size in metal organic frameworks for U(VI)/V(V) selective separation

open access: yesNature Communications
Selective extracting uranium from seawater is quite challenging, particularly the presence of vanadium, which poses a significant obstacle for most amidoxime absorbents.

Atomic Size Misfit for Electrocatalytic Small Molecule Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores the application and mechanisms of atomic size misfit in catalysis for small molecule activation, focusing on how structural defects and electronic properties can effectively lower the energy barriers of chemical bonds in molecules like H2O, CO2, and N2.

Compiled records of carbon isotopes in atmospheric CO2 for historical simulations in CMIP6

open access: yes, 2017
. The isotopic composition of carbon (Δ14C and δ13C) in atmospheric CO2 and in oceanic and terrestrial carbon reservoirs is influenced by anthropogenic emissions and by natural carbon exchanges, which can respond to and drive changes in climate ...

Measuring and Modeling Stable Isotopes of Mobile and Bulk Soil Water

open access: yes, 2018
Bulk soil water isotopes have an evaporation signal, but mobile water isotopes do not. These differences are time variant and linked to the volume and age of the mobile water.

Tailoring the Microstructure of B‐Cation Octahedra in Halide Double Perovskites for Efficient Selective CO2‐to‐CO Photoreduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The thermodynamic obstacle of CO2‐to‐CO conversion over metal halide perovskite photocatalysts is addressed by modulating the local electronic structure. A 13‐fold improvement in selective CO2 photoreduction to CO is achieved, with ≈100% selectivity.

Fungal treatment for liquid waste containing U(VI) and Th(IV)

open access: yesBiotechnology Reports, 2020
Four fungal and one bacterial isolates were isolated from a liquid waste sample of Nuclear Material Authority. Those dried biomasses were screened for uranium (U) and thorium (Th) adsorption efficiency where the most potent isolate was identified ...
