Microdroplet Stabilization Enabled Direct Mass Spectrometric Identification of Electrogenerated Transient Carbocation Intermediates

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The in situ mass spectrometric identification of the electrogenerated benzylic and phenylic carbocations, whose half‐lives in bulk solutions are on the nanosecond scale, is achieved by taking advantage of the unique stabilization effect of the electrosprayed microdroplets.

Energetic convergence drives metabolic adaptation in lirima chilean high-altitude hydrothermal system

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment
High-altitude hydrothermal systems provide laboratories for understanding microbial adaptation to extreme conditions. Here we investigated thermodynamic controls on metabolic transitions in Lirima hydrothermal system (Chile, 4000 meters above sea level ...

Leucine‐Dependent SLC7A5–PGAM5 Interaction Promotes Advanced Atherosclerosis Through Hindering Mitochondrial Function of Macrophages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Higher plasma leucine is associated with increased risk of new‐onset myocardial infarction. Leucine deprivation alleviates advanced atherosclerosis in mice. Tumor‐induced leucine deprivation reprograms macrophage metabolism and increases CD5Lhi macrophages in mouse plaques. Mechanistically, leucine deficiency reduced SLC7A5‐PGAM5 binding in macrophages,

Surface Graphitized Mesoporous Carbon Surpasses the Conductivity–Porosity Trade‐Off

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Electrochemical cathodic polarization in molten CaCl2‐NaCl converts mesoporous carbon (MC) into surface‐graphitized mesoporous graphite, simultaneously increasing surface area (397–867 m2/g) and electrical conductivity (26–450 S/cm) without mass loss.

A Generalized Approach for Distal C–H Arylation of Organic Building Blocks: Unveiling the Role of Counter Anion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report a general strategy for meta‐selective C–H arylation using aryl iodides and a Pd(II)/Pd(IV) catalytic system guided by a removable directing group. DFT and experimental studies reveal that counter anion tuning (acetate to trifluoroacetate) significantly enhances selectivity.
