The carbon isotopic behavior of hopane compounds during thermal maturation remains ambiguous due to limitations in current detection techniques. In this study, a low-maturity lacustrine shale sample was pyrolyzed in a hydrous semi-open pyrolysis system ...

Is binary sequential decay compatible with the fragmentation of nuclei at high energy? [PDF]
We use a binary sequential decay model in order to describe the fragmentation of a nucleus induced by the high energy collisions of protons with Au nuclei. Overall agreement between measured and calculated physical observables is obtained.

Neutrinos from beta processes in a presupernova: probing the isotopic evolution of a massive star [PDF]
We present a new calculation of the neutrino flux received at Earth from a massive star in the $\sim 24$ hours of evolution prior to its explosion as a supernova (presupernova).

By a simple anti‐Galvanic reaction, up to six copper atoms could be preferably doped into the Ag2(SR)5 staple motifs and Ag20 dodecahedral shell of an atomically precise Ag44(SR)30 nanocluster. When anatase TiO2 is used as substrate, the (AgCu)44/TiO2 photocatalyst exhibited much improved activity in photocatalytic CO2 reduction compared to Ag44/TiO2 ...

Understanding Decoherence of the Boron Vacancy Center in Hexagonal Boron Nitride
State‐of‐the‐art computations unravel the intricate decoherence dynamics of the boron vacancy center in hexagonal boron nitride across magnetic fields from 0 to 3 T. Five distinct regimes emerge, dominated by nuclear spin interactions, revealing optimal coherence times of 1–20 µs in the 180–350 mT range for isotopically pure samples.

Assessing connectivity between an overlying aquifer and a coal seam gas resource using methane isotopes, dissolved organic carbon and tritium [PDF]
Coal seam gas (CSG) production can have an impact on groundwater quality and quantity in adjacent or overlying aquifers. To assess this impact we need to determine the background groundwater chemistry and to map geological pathways of hydraulic ...

We have known about the processes of methanogenesis and methanotrophy for over 100 years, since the days of Winogradsky, yet their contributions to the carbon cycle were deemed to be of negligible importance for the majority of that period. It is only in
