On Isotropic Extension of Anisotropic Tensor Functions

AbstractThe present paper indicates that through some simple vector‐valved and 2nd‐order‐tensor‐valued invariant tensor functions anisotropic functions can be extended to isotropic functions merely with vectors and 2nd‐order tensors as extended variables.

A study was conducted to examine whether swelling of the brain due to vasogenic-type and cytotoxic-type edema is isotropic or anisotropic. Vasogenic edema was induced by cryogenic injury in cats, and coronal sections of the brain were examined at 4-5 h after injury.

Graphene as a Tunable Anisotropic or Isotropic Plasmonic Metasurface

We demonstrate a tunable plasmonic metasurface by considering a graphene sheet subject to a periodically patterned doping level. The unique optical properties of graphene result in electrically tunable plasmons that allow for extreme confinement of electromagnetic energy in the technologically significant regime of THz frequencies.

From isotropic to anisotropic superconductors: A scaling approach

We present a new scaling approach which allows one to map results obtained for isotropic superconductors to anisotropic materials in a simple and direct way. The scaling rules are obtained on the level of Ginzburg-Landau-- or London--type equations and applied directly to the desired phenomenological quantity.
