Determination of the mean normal measure from isotropic means of flat sections

Advances in Applied Probability, 2002
Letbe the mean normal measure of a stationary random setZin the extended convex ring in ℝd. Fork∈ {1,…,d-1}, connections are shown betweenand the mean of. Here, the mean is understood to be with respect to the random isotropick-dimensional linear subspace ξkand the mean normal measure of the intersection is computed in ξk. This mean to be well defined,

Energy Transfer in a Normally Distributed and Isotropic Turbulent Velocity Field in Two Dimensions

The Physics of Fluids, 1962
The dynamical equations which describe the behavior of isotropic turbulence in two dimensions are derived on the basis of the hypothesis that fourth-order cumulants of the velocity field are zero. The equations are then integrated numerically as an initial-value problem for an inviscid fluid. The result shows that the calculated rate of energy transfer

Oblique and normal incidence photometric return-path ellipsometers for isotropic and anisotropic surfaces

Journal of Optics, 1978
Photometric (autocollimation) return path ellipsometers (RPE) are described that operate at oblique and/or normal incidence for the examination of optically isotropic and anisotropic surfaces and thin films. Four automation schemes are proposed with polarizing/analyzing optics that consist of: 1) a rotating polarizer, 2) rotating polarizer and ...

DISPERSION OF NORMAL SHEAR WAVES IN A FUNCTIONAL-GRADIENT TRANSVERSAL-ISOTROPIC LAYER

A technique for studying the dispersion characteristics of normal horizontally polarized shear elastic waves propagating along an arbitrarily oriented direction in the plane of a layer made of a functional-gradient transversally isotropic material with different exponential laws of change in the elastic modulus and density parameter along the thickness

An Eddy Damped Quasi Normal Markovian Approach to Compressible Isotropic and Homogeneous Turbulence

1989
With a view to provide some understanding of the effects of compressibility on turbulence, a two-point closure analysis is developed. The equations for the double correlations are derived for a weakly compressible fluid, and closed according to the Eddy Damped Quasi Normal Markovian theory (E.D.Q.N.M.).
