Parabolas in the isotropic plane
In this paper we study the properties of a parabola in an isotropic plane and compare the results obtained with their Euclidean analogues.

Propagation of waves in an incompressible rotating transversely isotropic nonlocal elastic solid
In this paper, the nonlocal elasticity theory is applied to study the propagation of plane wave and Rayleigh-type surface wave in an incompressible, rotating and transversely isotropic material.

Rock masses with a distinct structure may present a transversely isotropic character; thus, the stress state in a transversely isotropic elastic half-plane surface is an important way to assess the behavior of the interaction between the distributed ...

Thermoreversible Gel-Dispersed Liquid Crystals
A simple model is introduced to describe phase behaviours of binary mixtures of a thermoreversible gel and a low-molecular-weight liquid crystal (LC). We predict novel phase diagrams on the temperature–concentration plane, including sol–gel transition ...

Bisectors of conics in isotropic plane
In this paper we introduce the concept of a bisector of two curves in an isotropic plane. We study the bisectors of conics and classify them according to their type of circularity. In general the bisector of conics is a quartic, while in the case when both conics are circular, its degree decreases.

Three-dimensional strength criterion for transverse isotropic geomaterials
The strength characteristic of the transverse isotropic soil include two aspects. On one hand, the strength curves are not symmetric around the three principal stress axes on deviatoric plane.

The in-plane elastic waves in periodically multilayered isotropic structures, which are decoupled from the out-of-plane waves, are represented mainly by the frequency–wavenumber spectra and occasionally by the frequency–phase velocity spectra as well as ...

An effect of a purely dissipative process of microstresses on plane strain gradient plasticity problems [PDF]
This article considers a plane strain gradient plasticity theory of the Gurtin–Anand model [M. Gurtin, L. Anand, A theory of strain gradient plasticity for isotropic, plastically irrotational materials Part I: Small deformations, J. Mech. Phys. Solids 53
