Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Ultrasonic Measurement of Elastic Modulus of Kelvin Foam

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
Elastic modulus of 3D-printed Kelvin foam plate is investigated by measuring the acoustic wave velocity of 1 MHz ultrasound. An isotropic tetrakaidecahedron foam of 3 mm unit cell is designed and printed layer upon layer to fablicate a Kelvin foam plate ...

Stability state evaluation of composite three-layered annular plates with asymmetrical damage [PDF]

open access: yesArchive of Mechanical Engineering, 2019
The paper presents the response of a three-layered annular plate with damaged laminated facings to the loads acting in their planes. The presented problem concerns the analysis of the combination of global plate failure in the form of buckling with the ...

Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

Historical Foundation and Practical Guideline for Ferroelectric Switching Kinetic Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The P and U pulses in the conventional PUND measurements are not identical because of the interplay between switching current and the measurement circuit components. This circuit effect can lead to a shift in polarization transients and misinterpreted physics in the switching kinetics.

Thermal analysis of isotropic plates using hyperbolic shear deformation theory

open access: yesApplied and Computational Mechanics, 2013
In this paper, thermal analysis of a thick isotropic rectangular plate is carried out using the hyperbolic shear deformation theory (HYSDT). The displacement field of the theory contains three variables.

Integral equations of the problem of thermoelasticity in cracked isotropic plate with inclusion

open access: yes, 2012
A plane stress thermoelasticity problem, in cracked isotropic plate, is examined. The interaction between inclusion and cracks, in an infinite isotropic plate, under the influence of thermal field is studied.

On the Propagation of Generalized Thermoelastic Vibrations in Plates

open access: yesEngineering Transactions, 2015
The heat conduction equation in the context of generalized theories of thermoelasticity is used to study the propagation of plane harmonic waves in a thin, flat, infinite, homogeneous, thermoelastic isotropic plate of finite width.
