Eddy diffusivity in homogeneous isotropic turbulence
We use the recently developed Macroscopic Forcing Method [Mani and Park, Physical Review Fluids, 6:054607, 2021] to compute the scale-dependent eddy diffusivity characterizing ensemble-averaged scalar and momentum transport in incompressible homogeneous isotropic turbulence. For scales larger than the energy containing eddies, eddy diffusivity is found

Solutions of Conformal Turbulence on a Half Plane
Exact solutions of conformal turbulence restricted on a upper half plane are obtained. We show that the inertial range of homogeneous and isotropic turbulence with constant enstrophy flux develops in a distant region from the boundary.

What is the smallest physically acceptable scale for 1D turbulence schemes ?
In numerical weather prediction (NWP) models, at mesoscale, the subgrid convective boundary-layer turbulence is dominated by the uni-directional (1D) vertical thermal production.

Homogeneous and Isotropic Turbulence: a short survey on recent developments
We present a detailed review of some of the most recent developments on Eulerian and Lagrangian turbulence in homogeneous and isotropic statistics. In particular, we review phenomenological and numerical results concerning the issue of universality with ...

The effects of particle loading on turbulence structure and modelling [PDF]
The objective of the present research was to extend the Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) approach to particle-laden turbulent flows using a simple model of particle/flow interaction.

Effects of axisymmetric contractions on turbulence of various scales [PDF]
Digitally acquired and processed results from an experimental investigation of grid generated turbulence of various scales through and downstream of nine matched cubic contour contractions ranging in area ratio from 2 to 36, and in length to inlet ...

Orifice versus Converging-Nozzle Grid Turbulence: A Wavelet Perspective
Grids such as perforated plates are of fundamental importance in flow turbulence study and are commonly utilised to promote mixing. An orificed perforated plate (OPP) and its reversed counterpart, the converging-nozzle perforated plate (CNPP), were ...
