Polymer concentration primarily determines the mechanical properties of PLA nanofibers. Surface topography was influenced by gas pressure. PLA/chloroform solutions showed Newtonian behavior. Processing parameters have no influence on water contact angles. Bulk PLA has higher crystallinity than the synthesized mats.

Refined Stratified Random Field Sampling for Inhomogeneous Turbulence Reconstruction
ABSTRACT We present a refined stratified sampling method for the numerical simulation of a recently introduced random field model for the reconstruction of inhomogeneous turbulence from characteristic flow quantities. The refinement concerns the generation of random wave vectors and allows for an improved accuracy of the simulated fluctuation field.

Particle Dispersion and Coherent Fine Scale Eddies in Turbulence
Direct numerical simulations of homogeneous isotropic turbulence laden with particles have been conducted to clarify the relationship between particle dispersion and coherent fine scale eddies in turbulence.

ABSTRACT This study presents a numerical investigation of passive scalar mixing in homogeneous isotropic turbulence (HIT). Different volumetric forcing schemes have been used in the literature, but the side effects are rarely discussed, either because these are assumed irrelevant or because it is too costly to conduct such an analysis with a high ...

The analysis and modeling of dilatational terms in compressible turbulence [PDF]
It is shown that the dilatational terms that need to be modeled in compressible turbulence include not only the pressure-dilatation term but also another term - the compressible dissipation.

Glacier‐Atmosphere Interactions and Feedbacks in High‐Mountain Regions ‐ A Review
Abstract Mountain glaciers are among the natural systems most vulnerable to climate change. However, their interactions with the atmosphere are complex and not fully understood. These interactions can trigger rapid adjustments and climate feedbacks that either amplify or attenuate atmospheric signals, influencing both glacier response and large‐scale ...

Solutions of Conformal Turbulence on a Half Plane
Exact solutions of conformal turbulence restricted on a upper half plane are obtained. We show that the inertial range of homogeneous and isotropic turbulence with constant enstrophy flux develops in a distant region from the boundary.

Scaling of Lyapunov exponents in homogeneous isotropic turbulence
Lyapunov exponents measure the average exponential growth rate of typical linear perturbations in a chaotic system, and the inverse of the largest exponent is a measure of the time horizon over which the evolution of the system can be predicted. Here, Lyapunov exponents are determined in forced homogeneous isotropic turbulence for a range of Reynolds ...

Energetic particle parallel diffusion in a cascading wave turbulence in the foreshock region [PDF]
We study parallel (field-aligned) diffusion of energetic particles in the upstream of the bow shock with test particle simulations. We assume parallel shock geometry of the bow shock, and that MHD wave turbulence convected by the solar wind toward the ...
