An Urban Taonga: The Distribution and Abundance of Tuna in Urban Streams Across Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa‐New Zealand

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research, Volume 60, Issue 1, March 2026.
Freshwater eels of the Anguilla genus are experiencing global decline, largely driven by human activity. In Aotearoa‐New Zealand, tuna (both shortfin and longfin eels) are similarly affected, with habitat fragmentation and modification key drivers of their decline.

Homological Correspondence: Israel as a Frontier of Global Domination

open access: yesAntipode, Volume 58, Issue 2, 2026.
ABSTRACT This article offers a novel framing for enquiring the deep entanglement between Israel and Western‐led global centers of domination. Moving beyond geopolitical reasonings and historical analogies, it locates this relationship within a dynamic space of homological correspondence, positioning Israel as its frontier.

Evolutionary Systematics of Two Co‐Occurring Paludomid Freshwater Gastropods in Thailand (Cerithioidea: Paludomidae)

open access: yesZoologica Scripta, Volume 55, Issue 2, Page 244-272, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Paludomidae is a diverse family of limnic gastropods in the Cerithioidea, with a distribution range including most of tropical sub‐Saharan Africa, the Nile Valley, Madagascar, the Seychelles, as well as South and Southeast Asia. Its systematics and taxonomy are currently in a state of confusion, with Thailand being inhabited by probably two ...

Oxygen Isotopes in Tree Rings Track Neotropical Climate Dynamics

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 4, 28 February 2026.
Abstract Central America faces increasing risks from climate variability and extreme weather events. Limited observational records and model biases have constrained our ability to understand the ocean–atmosphere dynamics that influence precipitation variability in the region over longer timescales.

Longitudinal Genome‐Wide Association Study for Female Fertility Traits in German Holstein Cattle

open access: yesAnimal Genetics, Volume 57, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT The aim of this genome‐wide association study (GWAS) was to detect significant SNP effects influencing the dynamic process of female fertility in dairy cattle over lactations, to identify possible candidate genes and to study their role in pathway analyses.

Neuroimaging PheWAS and molecular phenotyping implicate PSMC3 in Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Neuroimaging genetics has advanced our understanding of Alzheimer's disease (AD); however, frameworks using functional genomics are needed to elucidate mechanisms connecting loci to neurological outcomes. To address this need, we explored relationships between AD‐associated variants and disease via their impact on gene expression ...

RNA interference is ineffective as a routine method for gene silencing in chick embryos as monitored by fgf8 silencing

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biological Sciences, 2005
The in vivo accessibility of the chick embryo makes it a favoured model system for experimental developmental biology. Although the range of available techniques now extends to miss-expression of genes through in ovo electroporation, it remains difficult
