Inheritance Processes in the Italian Alps
Ethnohistory, 1977Romance and German-speaking villagers in Northern Italy transfer property between generations in virtually identical ways while maintaining strongly contrasting inheritance ideologies. While shared ecological concerns account for common practice, contrasting ideology can be understood only in reference to long-term processes of regional integration.
