Pd Nanoparticles Supported on Activated Carbon and Their Application in the Oxidative Condensation Reaction of Furfural: Effect of Base and Oxidizing Agent on Catalytic Behavior and Deactivation

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 17, Issue 17, September 5, 2025.
Catalysts with varying palladium (Pd) loading supported on activated carbon were assessed for their effectiveness in the oxidative condensation of furfural. Furan‐2‐acrolein was the primary product, depending on the palladium content. Reusability tests showed a decline in the yield of furan‐2‐acrolein.

Directional Ring Translocation in a pH‐ and Redox‐Driven Tristable [2]Rotaxane

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 2, January 10, 2025.
A [2]rotaxane comprising a dibenzo‐24‐crown‐8 macrocycle and a thread containing three recognition sites (ammonium, bipyridinium and triazolium) is described. The ammonium and bipyridinium stations are responsive to orthogonal stimuli, pH and electrochemical, allowing control over the macrocycle movement along the axle.

H2 Production from Ammonia Borane: Integrating Experiments, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and Statistical Analysis for Predicting and Optimizing Process and Reactor Design

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 17, Issue 15, August 7, 2025.
Ammonia borane is considered a great hydrogen carrier, and when hydrolyzed, it can generate 3 moles of H2. This study highlights the combination of experimental and computational work, such as modeling and statistical analysis, that enables future experimentation by focusing on the parameter with the most profound effect on maximum H2 yield.
