Investigating the true nature of three hard X-ray sources [PDF]
Many of the new high energy sources discovered both by INTEGRAL/IBIS and Swift/BAT have been characterised thanks to extensive, multi-band follow-up campaigns, but there are still objects whose nature remains to be asserted. In this paper we investigate the true nature of three high energy sources, IGR J12134-6015, IGR J16058-7253 and Swift J2037.2 ...

Statistics of the seasonal cycle of the 1951-2000 surface temperature records in Italy [PDF]
We present an analysis of seasonal cycle of the last 50 years of records of surface temperature in Italy. We consider two data sets which synthesize the surface temperature fields of Northern and Southern Italy. Such data sets consist of records of daily

Data‐driven performance metrics for neural network learning
Summary Effectiveness of data‐driven neural learning in terms of both local mimima trapping and convergence rate is addressed. Such issues are investigated in a case study involving the training of one‐hidden‐layer feedforward neural networks with the extended Kalman filter, which reduces the search for the optimal network parameters to a state ...

On the Definition of Gauge Field Operators in Lattice Gauge-Fixed Theories [PDF]
We address the problem of defining the gauge four-potential on the lattice, in terms of the natural link variables. Different regularized definitions are shown, through non perturbative numerical computation, to converge towards the same continuum renormalized limit.

Over the seven decades considered in the chapter, the Italian wine industry has changed dramatically, from a dispersed production system mainly oriented to self- consumption of supply and the local market with low- value wines, to a modern industry able ...

Radio activity in major mergings [PDF]
Cluster mergings are expected to have an influence on the radio emission of the galaxy population. We present the results of a deep radio survey in the A3558 complex in the central region of the Shapley Concentration, in order to further explore our hypothesis of a dependence of the radio luminosity function on the age of the merging.

On the perturbative corrections around D-string instantons [PDF]
We study ${\cal F}^4$-threshold corrections in an eight dimensional S-dual pair of string theories, as a prototype of dual string vacua with sixteen supercharges. We show that the orbifold CFT description of D-string instantons gives rise to a perturbative expansion similar to the one appearing on the fundamental string side. By an explicit calculation,

Abstract We describe a case of fungal keratitis due to Beauveria bassiana in a farmer with Fuchs' dystrophy, treated with amphotericin B. Surgery with penetrating keratoplasty was necessary to resolve the lesions. Susceptibility testing and molecular sequencing permitted the identification and treatment of this rare aetiological agent of invasive ...

Rendere visibile l’invisibile: disabilità e sviluppo sostenibile tra indicatori e stereotipi
The Convention for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development are the sign of a paradigm shift in addressing the exclusion and marginalization of people with disabilities.

Variation in the prevalence of enteropathogenic Yersinia in slaughter pigs from Belgium, Italy, and Spain [PDF]
Tonsils of 829 fattening pigs originating from Belgium (n = 201), Italy (n = 428), and Spain (n 200) were collected between 2005 and 2007 to study the prevalence of enteropathogenic Yersinia in slaughter pigs.
