Electrically Induced Negative Differential Resistance States Mediated by Oxygen Octahedra Coupling in Manganites for Neuronal Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 26, June 26, 2025.
The negative differential resistance is exploited, using a La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 thin film network to demonstrate various neuronal functionalities of the human brain, such as leaky‐integrate‐fire and oscillatory patterns. Transmission electron microscope studies show local modification in oxygen octahedra in the network leads to co‐existing phases ...

Cardiac-specific ITCH overexpression ameliorates septic cardiomyopathy via inhibition of the NF-κB signaling pathway

open access: yesJournal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology Plus, 2022
Background: Septic cardiomyopathy is a common complication of septic shock and organ dysfunction. ITCH is a HECT (homologous to the E6-AP carboxyl-terminus)-type ubiquitin E3 ligase that plays a critical role in inflammatory suppression.

Advances in Radiative Heat Transfer: Bridging Far‐Field Fundamentals and Emerging Near‐Field Innovations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review synthesizes the evolution of radiative heat transfer, emphasizing the transition from far‐field to near‐field regimes. Traditional frameworks, such as Planck's law, are revisited alongside modern innovations like fluctuational electrodynamics. Applications span nanoscale thermal management, energy harvesting, and thermophotovoltaic systems.

ITCHING IN SYPHILIS [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Dermatology and Syphilology, 1922
Sabouraud has jestingly maintained that a series of two hundred dermatologic aphorisms would amply cover all known practical facts in the field. He included in his list the statement, "Itching lesions are nonsyphilitic," and he qualified thisby the modification that of course some syphilitic lesions itched, but that in general they did not.

Making Photoresponsive Metal–Organic Frameworks an Effective Class of Heterogeneous Photocatalyst

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes photoresponsive MOFs for photocatalytic applications, focusing on their capacity to enhance light harvesting, charge transfer, and surface reactions. While existing studies provide foundational insights, emerging characterization techniques enable a deeper understanding of photoresponsive MOFs.

Ultra‐Effective Light‐Activated Antibacterial Activity via Carboxyl Functionalized Graphene Quantum Dots and Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 26, June 26, 2025.
Carboxyl‐functionalized graphene quantum dots (cGQDs) exhibit high singlet oxygen quantum yield due to strong spin–orbit coupling. cGQDs achieve minimum bactericidal concentration of only 0.4 µg mL−1 against S. aureus under low‐intensity illumination.

Scaling‐Up of Structural Superlubricity: Challenges and Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
At increasing length‐scales, structural superlubricity (SSL) faces challenges from physical and chemical energy dissipation pathways. This study reviews recent experimental and theoretical progress on these challenges facing the scaling‐up of SSL, as well as perspectives on future directions for realizing and manipulating macroscale superlubricity ...
