Restricted Recalibration of Item Response Theory Models

Psychometrika, 2019
In item response theory (IRT), it is often necessary to perform restricted recalibration (RR) of the model: A set of (focal) parameters is estimated holding a set of (nuisance) parameters fixed. Typical applications of RR include expanding an existing item bank, linking multiple test forms, and associating constructs measured by separately calibrated ...

Randomized Item Response Theory Models

Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics, 2005
The randomized response (RR) technique is often used to obtain answers on sensitive questions. A new method is developed to measure latent variables using the RR technique because direct questioning leads to biased results. Within the RR technique is the probability of the true response modeled by an item response theory (IRT) model.

Assessing item‐feature effects with item response tree models

British Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology, 2019
Recent applications of item response tree models demonstrate that this model class is well suited to detect midpoint and extremity response style effects in both attitudinal and personality measurements. This paper proposes an extension of this approach that goes beyond measuring response styles and allows us to examine item‐feature effects.

Response Time Item Response Models

2010
Response times and responses can be collected via computer adaptive testing or computer-assisted questioning. Inferences about test takers and test items can therefore be based on the response time and response accuracy information. Response times and responses are used to measure a respondent's speed of working and ability using a multivariate ...

Randomized Item Response Models

2010
Item responses can be masked before they are observed via a randomized response mechanism. This technique is used to protect individuals and improve their willingness to answer truthfully. Various traditional randomized response sampling techniques are discussed and extended to a multivariate setting.
