The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Exiting measures for random walks on infinite rooted trees

open access: yesNonautonomous Dynamical Systems
We consider conformal iterated function systems (CIFS) that are induced by an infinite rooted tree TT, which we call TT-conformal iterated function systems (TT-CIFS).

Common Attractors of Generalized Hutchinson–Wardowski Contractive Operators

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
The aim of this paper is to obtain a fractal set of ℑ-iterated function systems comprising generalized ℑ-contractions. For a variety of Hutchinson–Wardowski contractive operators, we prove that this kind of system admits a unique common attractor ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Dynamical Systems and Numerical Analysis: the Study of Measures generated by Uncountable I.F.S

open access: yes, 2010
Measures generated by Iterated Function Systems composed of uncountably many one--dimensional affine maps are studied. We present numerical techniques as well as rigorous results that establish whether these measures are absolutely or singular continuous.

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

A dynamical point of view of Quantum Information: Wigner measures

open access: yes, 2011
We analyze a known version of the discrete Wigner function and some connections with Quantum Iterated Funcion Systems. This paper is a follow up of "A dynamical point of view of Quantum Information: entropy and pressure" by the same ...

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Iterated function systems consisting of continuous functions satisfying Banach’s orbital condition

open access: yesAnnals of the West University of Timisoara: Mathematics and Computer Science, 2018
We introduce the concept of iterated function system consisting of continuous functions satisfying Banach’s orbital condition and prove that the fractal operator associated to such a system is weakly Picard. Some examples are provided.

Sampling and interpolation of cumulative distribution functions of Cantor sets in [0, 1]

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica, 2021
Cantor sets are constructed from iteratively removing sections of intervals. This process yields a cumulative distribution function (CDF), constructed from the invariant Borel probability measure associated with their iterated function systems.
