On n-Fold Iterated Limits

1983

Design and manufacturing of the ITER limiter

Fusion Engineering and Design, 2002
The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) tokamak has been designed to have two limiter modules located outboard in horizontal ports. During the start-up and shut-down phases of the Tokamak operating cycle, the limiter defines the plasma boundary and protect the main first wall (FW) and the RF antennas from the direct contact with the

Accelerated Iterative Band-Limited Extrapolation Algorithms

IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2004
The iterative algorithms of Papoulis-Gerchberg and Cadzow are well-known algorithms for solving the band-limited extrapolation problem. These algorithms, however, are usually slowly convergent. We propose an acceleration scheme for both algorithms, based on finding best approximation in appropriate subspaces. The acceleration scheme can also be applied

The limit points of affine iterations

Numerical Functional Analysis and Optimization, 1990
Suppose the mapping T has more then one fixed point. If the iteration converges, the limit will depend on the choice of the starting point. It is shown that for affine mappings this dependency can be described by solutions of certain linear equations.

The limits of iteration

2002
AbstractThis chapter discusses the contradiction in the limits of iteration, one of the four limits of thought. This type of limit arises when there is some operation that is applied over and over again as far as possible. The most notable example is the mathematical (ordinal) infinite.

Hyperbolic Parabolic Limit, Maxwellian Iteration and Objectivity

2015
In this chapter, we discuss the parabolic limit of extended thermodynamics via the Maxwellian iteration, and we observe that the usual constitutive equations, which are nonlocal in space, are approximations of some balance laws of ET when some relaxation times are negligible.

Limited view angle iterative CT reconstruction

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
Computed Tomography (CT) is widely used for transportation security to screen baggage for potential threats. For example, many airports use X-ray CT to scan the checked baggage of airline passengers. The resulting reconstructions are then used for both automated and human detection of threats.

Constant Limit of a Sequence of Iterates

SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 1979
Let N be the set of all points on the complex sphere $\sigma $ at which a sequence F of iterates of a meromorphic function f is normal. N is shown to be exactly those points in some neighborhood of which F breaks down uniformly into a finite number of fixed subsequences. Consider any domain $D \subseteq N$ together with all its images under $f:F(D) = \{

Lower limits of iterated Wiener processes

Statistics & Probability Letters, 1995
Let \(W\) and \(\widehat W\) be two independent Wiener processes with \(W(0) = \widehat W(0) = 0\) and let \(X^*_ t = \sup_{0 \leq u \leq t} | W (\widehat W_ u) |\) and \(Y^*_ t=\sup_{0\leq u\leq t}| W(|\widehat W_ u|)|\). Integral tests for \(P(X^*_ t < t^{1/4}/f(t)\), i.o.) = 0 or 1 and \(P(Y^*_ t < t^{1/4}/f(t)\), i.o.) = 0 or 1 are given.
