Iteration of holomorphic maps

Russian Mathematical Surveys, 1985
The author surveys the Wolff-Denjoy theorem [\textit{J. Wolff}, C. R. Acad. Sci. Paris 182, 42-43, 200-201 (1926) and \textit{A. Denjoy}, ibid. 182, 255-257 (1926)], which relates to holomorphic self-maps f of the unit disc and the local uniform convergence of the sequence of iterates \(f^ n\).

Parikh Mapping and Iteration

2001
The Parikh mapping maps each word over an alphabet with n letters to an n-dimensional vector whose components give the number of occurrences of the letters in the word. We consider the Parikh images of sequences and languages obtained by iterated applications of morphisms (or sets of substitutions). Furthermore we modify the Parikh mapping such that it

Iteration of Contractions and Analytic Maps

Journal of the London Mathematical Society, 1990
The Denjoy-Wolff theorem states that if f is an analytic map of the unit disc into itself, then the iterates \(f^ n\) converge to some point in the closure of the unit disc. Excluding Möbius maps, each f is a contraction with respect to the hyperbolic metric. The result is generalized to contractions of Hadamard and visibility n-dimensional manifolds.

A Fibonicacci-Like Iterated Nonlinear Map

1990
We study a second-order Fibonacci-like iterated nonlinear map that contains two parameters of which one is kept fixed, whereas the other one varies from 0 to 1. This gives rise to some complicated behavior which is displayed in a few interesting pictures.
