Switching Spike Plasticity Shapes ACE2 Engagement Across SARS‐CoV‐2 Variants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Conformational plasticity governs SARS‐CoV‐2 spike function and ACE2 recognition. Using high‐speed AFM and single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we analyzed the ancestral spike and nine variants, revealing progressive rigidification from Delta, variable plasticity in Omicron sublineages, and JN.1 compaction.

Self‐Healing UPy‐Functionalized Polyethylene Networks: A Robust Platform for Resilient and High‐Performance Lithium Battery Separators

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Self‐healing separators are developed by grafting ureidopyrimidinone (UPy) quadruple hydrogen‐bonding motifs onto PE‐HEMA copolymers, blended with high‐MW PEO via solvent‐free hot‐pressing. The dynamic UPy network enables autonomous healing, restoring functionality after short circuits.

Net age, but not integrity, may be associated with decreased protection against Plasmodium falciparum infection in southern Malawi

open access: yesMalaria Journal, 2019
Background Distribution campaigns for insecticide-treated nets (ITN) have increased the use of ITNs in Malawi, but malaria prevalence remains high even among those using the nets. Previous studies have addressed ITN ownership, insecticide resistance, and

Barriers to insecticide-treated mosquito net possession 2 years after a mass free distribution campaign in Luangwa District, Zambia. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
Roll Back Malaria set the goal of 100% of households in malaria endemic countries in Africa owning an insecticide-treated mosquito net (ITN) by 2010. Zambia has used mass free distribution campaigns and distribution through antenatal care (ANC) clinics ...

Multi‐state Photoswitching in Thienoquinoid‐Based Fluorescent Trithiophenes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A methine‐bridged trithiophene with a thienoquinoid core undergoes photoisomerization of both C═C bonds, affording three geometrical isomers in a ratio controlled by the irradiation wavelength. Despite full π‐conjugation, the system retains fluorescence, enabling wavelength‐addressable multi‐state switching with luminescent readout.

Factors associated with use of insecticide-treated net for malaria prevention in Manica District, Mozambique: a community-based cross-sectional survey

open access: yesMalaria Journal, 2021
Background Insecticide-treated net (ITN) use is crucial for preventing malaria infection. Despite significant improvements in ITN access and use over the past two decades, many malaria-endemic countries in sub-Saharan Africa have not yet reached global ...
