Species‐Specific Vulnerability of Northern Red Sea Mesophotic Corals to Accelerated Warming
Mesophotic reefs are often considered climate refuges, yet experimental thermal‐stress reveals species‐dependent vulnerability. Skeletal optics, energy reserves, and light environment determine bleaching severity. A depth‐generalist coral resisted stress while the mesophotic specialist bleached severely.

ABSTRACT Soil microbial communities are key drivers of soil functioning in agricultural systems. Yet the relative influence of soil properties and cropping practices on their diversity remains insufficiently understood. We investigated 60 cropland sites in western Switzerland, covering a broad range of soil properties and cropping practices, to explore

Abstract Background The giant African land snail (Lissachatina fulica), an invasive species with significant medical, agricultural and economic importance, is abundant in urban areas of Kota Samarahan, Sarawak. The proximity between humans and the snail may increase the risk of pathogen transmission.

The ITS2 Database - Application and Extension
The internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2) of the ribosomal gene repeat is an increasingly important phylogenetic marker whose RNA secondary structure is widely conserved across eukaryotic organisms. The ITS2 database aims to be a comprehensive resource on ITS2 sequence and secondary structure, based on direct thermodynamic as well as homology modelled ...

Freshwater systems of the semi‐arid Narrabri region, Australia, are hotspots of novel fungal and eukaryote diversity, dominated by zoosporic fungi and unclassified lineages. ITS‑based DNA and water chemistry analyses across various water bodies revealed strong seasonal patterns, a scarcity of aquatic hyphomycetes that may reflect environmental ...

Summary Alien trees reshape belowground fungal communities, but the factors governing the balance between mutualists and pathogens remain unclear. We tested whether residence time, mycorrhizal type, and biogeographical origin shape this balance, and whether alien stands differ from native vegetation. We sampled soils beneath 73 alien tree species in 48
