Protocols for Locality Data Collection, Area of Occupancy, and Extent of Occurence for IUCN Red List Assessment v1

open access: yes
Locality data for bat species in Peninsular Malaysia were obtained through literature review, field surveys, and museum records. Fieldwork involved harp traps, mist nets, and high nets, with biological measurements and species identification based on Kingston et al. (2006). Coordinates were standardized and mapped using QGIS 3.34.1.

Alpine flora of Kashmir Himalaya: floristic assessment, life history traits and threat status

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Alpine ecosystems in the Himalaya are considered to be at a higher risk to anthropogenic global change drivers. The Kashmir Himalaya, located in the north‐western side of the Himalayan biodiversity hotspot, harbors a diverse alpine flora, which remains systematically little investigated.

Restoration of the endemic hermatypic coral Cladocora caespitosa in the Mediterranean Sea: micro-fragmentation and nursery rearing

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science
Cladocora caespitosa is the only reef-building zooxanthellate coral in the Mediterranean Sea. It forms beds of colonies, sporadically aggregating in extensive reef-like structures. The carbonate deposition of C.

The scope and extent of literature that maps threats to species: a systematic map protocol

open access: yesEnvironmental Evidence, 2020
Background The rate of anthropogenic biodiversity loss far exceeds the background rate of species extinctions. Global targets for biodiversity acknowledge this, nevertheless progress towards targets has been poor.

Pinguicula brendae (Lentibulariaceae) sp. nov., a carnivorous plant from a tropical montane cloud forest in Hidalgo, Mexico

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
A new species of Lentibulariaceae, Pinguicula brendae Rodríguez‐Ramírez, H.Shimai & A.R. Andrés‐Hernández, is described based on its unique morphological characteristics. This species is restricted to limestone rock walls in the San Bartolo Tutotepec municipality, central‐eastern Hidalgo, Mexico, where it inhabits a single locality on vertical, north ...

Tracking Invasive Alien Species (TrIAS): Building a data-driven framework to inform policy [PDF]

open access: yesResearch Ideas and Outcomes, 2017
Imagine a future where dynamically, from year to year, we can track the progression of alien species (AS), identify emerging problem species, assess their current and future risk and timely inform policy in a seamless data-driven workflow.

From the brink of extinction to regulation: northern Europe's white‐tailed eagles now face density dependence and climate constraints after rapid population growth

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Population growth reflects the combined influence of regulation and density‐independent factors operating through demographic processes. Under exceptional circumstances (e.g. populations recovering from near‐extinction), growth may initially be weakly regulated but typically slows as negative density dependence (NDD) sets in.

CRISPR-Cas9 suppression gene drives for Nile tilapia control: prospects in sub-Saharan African freshwater ecosystems

open access: yesAll Life
CRISPR-based suppression gene drives represent a promising tool for managing invasive Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) populations in sub-Saharan Africa’s freshwater ecosystems.
