Market Integration and Nonlinear Price Transmission in 19th‐Century British Wheat Markets

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Important developments in infrastructure and institutions characterized 19th‐Century wheat markets in Great Britain. Among these developments was the construction of the national rail system which enabled cheaper and more efficient transport of grain and other bulky cargoes between inland towns and ports.

Bound by blood and bloodshed: Sibling ties and participation in genocidal violence

open access: yesCriminology, EarlyView.
Abstract Focusing on the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, we examine how sibling relationships—one of the most salient familial bonds—influence individual engagement in violence during mass atrocity. Drawing on an adaptation of differential association and social learning theories for contexts of mass atrocity, we analyze a novel dataset linking over 300,000 ...

A Note on the Map Expansion of Jack Polynomials

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Combinatorics
In a recent work, Maciej Dołęga and the author have given a formula of the expansion of the Jack polynomial $J^{(\alpha)}_\lambda$ in the power-sum basis as a non-orientability generating series of bipartite maps whose edges are decorated with the boxes of the partition $\lambda$.

The product of a nonsymmetric Jack polynomial with a linear function [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 2002
In this paper a decomposition in terms of the nonsymmetric Jack polynomials is given for the product of any nonsymmetric Jack polynomial E

Statistical analyses of ecological multinomial time series to identify environmental drivers and biotic interactions

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, EarlyView.
Abstract Understanding the drivers of change in communities is a major goal of paleoecology and community ecology, but statistical inference from multivariate time series is challenged by relative (rather than absolute) abundance data, observation uncertainty and missing data due to uneven sampling through time.

Singular Nonsymmetric Jack Polynomials for Some Rectangular Tableaux [PDF]

open access: yesSymmetry, 2020
In the intersection of the theories of nonsymmetric Jack polynomials in N variables and representations of the symmetric groups S N one finds the singular polynomials. For certain values of the parameter κ there are Jack polynomials which span an irreducible S N -module and are annihilated by the Dunkl operators.

Superintegrability of the monomial Uglov matrix model

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
In this paper we propose a resolution to the problem of $$\beta $$ β -deforming the non-Gaussian monomial matrix models. The naive guess of substituting Schur polynomials with Jack polynomials does not work in that case, therefore we are forced to look ...

Resolving Micrometre‐Scale Zircon Growth in Silicic Systems by 7 μm LA‐MC‐ICP‐MS U‐Pb Dating: Linking Petrology and Geochronology in Silicic Volcanic and Granitic Rocks from Victoria, Australia

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, EarlyView.
Key Points 7 μm spot‐diameter LA‐MC‐ICP‐MS analyses yield accurate zircon U‐Pb ages. 1013 Ω amplifier resistors improve low‐signal Pb measurements. Saturn correction protocols minimise down‐hole fractionation effects. We present a systematic evaluation of high spatial‐resolution zircon U‐Pb dating using a Thermo Scientific Neoma multi‐collector ICP‐MS ...

Longitudinal changes in plasma biomarkers of immune activation, neuronal inflammation and injury in persons with HIV initiating ART

open access: yesHIV Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Data on changes in biomarkers of brain health, and their associations with cognitive function in adults commencing either dual‐ or triple‐antiretroviral therapy (ART) are sparse. Methods Plasma biomarkers (neurofilament light [NfL], glial fibrillary acidic protein [GFAP], sCD14, CXCL10, neopterin and IL‐6) were measured at baseline ...
