Dynamical Behavior of Soliton Solutions and Bifurcation Analysis for the Time‐Fractional Akbota Equation With Beta Derivative

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 10, October 2026.
Exact soliton solutions of the time‐fractional Akbota equation with the beta derivative are obtained using three analytical methods. Bifurcation, stability, and phase‐plane analyses reveal stable and unstable equilibrium states, demonstrating controllable nonlinear wave dynamics with promising applications in optical fiber communication, nonlinear ...

Integrated Photonic Modulator Circuit With Programmable Intensity and Phase Modulation Response

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 19, 7 October 2026.
A platform‐agnostic programmable modulation circuit is introduced to enable tunable and universal optimization of integrated photonic modulators. By flexibly controlling carrier amplitude and phase, the approach adapts to diverse device characteristics without structural redesign.

Notes on the Jacobi equation

open access: yesDifferential Geometry and its Applications, 2009
We discuss some properties of Jacobi fields that do not involve assumptions on the curvature endomorphism. We compare indices of different spaces of Jacobi fields and give some applications to Riemannian geometry.

Polynomial Preconditioning for Indefinite Matrices

open access: yesNumerical Linear Algebra with Applications, Volume 33, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Polynomial preconditioning is an important tool in solving large linear systems and eigenvalue problems. A polynomial from GMRES can be used to precondition restarted GMRES and restarted Arnoldi. Here we give methods for indefinite matrices that make polynomial preconditioning more generally applicable. The new techniques include balancing the

A Randomized Algorithm for Simultaneously Diagonalizing Symmetric Matrices by Congruence

open access: yesNumerical Linear Algebra with Applications, Volume 33, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT A family of symmetric matrices A1,…,Ad$$ {A}_1,\dots, {A}_d $$ is simultaneously diagonalizable by congruence (SDC), also called nonorthogonal joint diagonalization, if there is an invertible matrix X$$ X $$ such that every XTAkX$$ {X}^T{A}_kX $$ is diagonal. In this work, a novel randomized SDC (RSDC) algorithm is proposed that reduces SDC to

Polynomial Extrapolation Techniques for Accelerating Picard Iterations With Multigrid Solvers for Nonlinear Problems in Isogeometric Analysis

open access: yesNumerical Linear Algebra with Applications, Volume 33, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Vector extrapolation techniques can be highly effective when used to accelerate the convergence of fixed‐point iterative methods, such as the Picard method. In this study, we investigate the numerical solution of nonlinear problems. Specifically, we address the nonlinear eigenvalue Bratu problem and the Monge–Ampère equation using a multigrid ...

Estimation of Mesoscale Momentum Flux Frequency Spectra in the Mesosphere and Lower Thermosphere Using Multistatic Specular Meteor Radar Wind Fields

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract A spectrally resolved observational methodology is introduced to estimate mesoscale momentum flux frequency spectra in the mesosphere and lower thermosphere (MLT). The method is applied to four‐dimensional wind fields reconstructed with the physics‐informed neural network approach called the Hydrodynamic Point‐wise Environment Reconstructor ...

Random Carbon Tax Policy and Investment Into Emission Abatement Technologies

open access: yesMathematical Finance, Volume 36, Issue 4, Page 804-825, October 2026.
ABSTRACT We analyze the problem of a profit‐maximizing electricity producer, subject to carbon taxes, who decides on investments into CO2$\rm CO_2$ abatement technologies. We assume that the carbon tax policy is random and that the investment in the abatement technology is divisible, irreversible, and subject to transaction costs.

A Model of Strategic Sustainable Investment

open access: yesMathematical Finance, Volume 36, Issue 4, Page 771-803, October 2026.
ABSTRACT We study a problem of optimal irreversible investment and emission reduction formulated as a nonzero‐sum dynamic game between an investor with environmental preferences and a firm. The game is set in continuous‐time on an infinite‐time horizon.

Dam Management in the Era of Climate Change

open access: yesMathematical Finance, Volume 36, Issue 4, Page 870-895, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Climate change has a dramatic impact, particularly by concentrating rainfall into a few short periods, interspersed with long dry spells. In this context, the role of dams is crucial. We consider the optimal control of a dam, where the water level must neither exceed a designated safety threshold nor fall below a minimum level to ensure ...
