Spatial discretization of partial differential equations with integrals
We consider the problem of constructing spatial finite difference approximations on a fixed, arbitrary grid, which have analogues of any number of integrals of the partial differential equation and of some of its symmetries.

Abstract Electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) has been shown to be effective for surveying and monitoring dams, due to the method's sensitivity to moisture content and relevant physical properties (e.g., porosity). Automated ERT systems, capable of time‐lapse monitoring, can be used to detect variations in ground conditions.

Assessing the role of spatial externalities in the survival of Italian innovative startups
Abstract The paper provides novel empirical evidence about the effects of spatial externalities on the survival of innovative startups in Italy. Using geocoded firm‐level data, we build micro‐geographic measures of specialization and diversity that are robust to the modifiable areal unit problem.

Key Findings: An assimilation methodology is established for the Tomorrow.io microwave sounder (TMS) flying on CubeSats in sun‐synchronous and inclined orbits, and in all cloud scenes. The TMS has a significant impact on weather forecast lead times up to 3 days in the Tropics in a research‐quality numerical weather prediction setting, and yields water ...

Though many studies have shown potential benefit in assimilating all‐sky infrared radiances from geostationary satellites, at numerical weather prediction centres it is still common practice to assimilate clear‐sky radiances. We present the operationalization of the all‐sky assimilation of the spinning enhanced visible and infrared imager (SEVIRI ...

Necessary and sufficient conditions for global uniqueness of equilibria [PDF]
We study the problem of finding necessary and sufficient conditions that guarantee global uniqueness of equilibria in a pure exchange economy. We show that for every economy to have a unique equilibrium it is necessary and sufficient that (i) there are ...

Virtual Elastic Tether: A New Approach for Multi‐Agent Navigation in Confined Aquatic Environments
ABSTRACT Underwater navigation is a challenging area in the field of mobile robotics due to inherent constraints in self‐localization and communication in underwater environments. Some of these challenges can be mitigated by using collaborative multi‐agent teams.

The Jacobian Conjecture as a problem in combinatorics
The Jacobian Conjecture has been reduced to the symmetric homogeneous case. In this paper we give an inversion formula for the symmetric case and relate it to a combinatoric structure called the Grossman-Larson Algebra. We use these tools to prove the symmetric Jacobian Conjecture for the case $F=X-H$ with $H$ homogeneous and $JH^{3}=0$.
