New κ-Casein Alleles in Jakhrana Goat Affecting Milk Processing Properties

Food Biotechnology, 2009
High genetic variability in the κ-Casein gene that can be exploited for the marker assisted selection milk production of desirable processing and nutritional properties. We resolved seven unique PCR-SSCP variants in a 425 bp segment of κ-Casein exon-4 (CSN*3) on PAGE gel and then sequenced the amplicons.

Ovulatory Response and Embryo Yield in Jakhrana Goats Following Treatments with PMSG and FSH

Tropical Animal Health and Production, 2005
Superovulatory response and embryo production efficacy were investigated in adult (age 2-4 years, average body weight: 27-43 kg) cycling Jakhrana goats (n = 15) under semi-arid environmental conditions of India by administering different superovulatory regimens. Goats were reared under semi-intensive system of management in established farm conditions.

Single strand conformation polymorphism detection in alpha-lactalbumin gene of Indian Jakhrana milk goats

Acta Agriculturae Scandinavica, Section A - Animal Science, 2008
Alpha-lactalbumin (α-LA) (ALA), one of the two major whey proteins, is strongly correlated with the nutritional value and the functional properties of whey and whey products.

Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in growth hormone gene of Jakhrana, a prominent milk goat breed in India

Small Ruminant Research, 2009
Abstract PCR-SSCP patterns on non-degenerative PAGE revealed 6 amplicons in caprine GH exon-4 and 3 alleles A4, B4 and C4 were identified. In exon-5, six SSCP variants revealed three alleles A5, B5, and C5. Out of 54 AA sites of GH-4 coding region, six codons were polymorphic.
