Optical transmission for the James Webb Space Telescope
SPIE Proceedings, 2012The fabrication and coating of the mirrors for the James Webb Space Telescope has been completed. The spectral reflectivity of the protected gold coated beryllium mirrors has been measured. The predicted end-of-life transmission through the telescope builds from these values. I also discuss the concept and the plans for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). JWST will be tlie successor to the Hubble Space Telescope and may be launched as early as mid-2011.
