Multifunctional Neural Probes Enable Bidirectional Electrical, Optical, and Chemical Recording and Stimulation In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Convergence drawing is used to create flexible, microscale, multifunctional fiber‐based neural probes. Optimized materials selection enables individual devices to perform neural recording, electrical stimulation, optogenetics, fiber photometry, fluid delivery, and voltammetric neurotransmitter detection in rodents.

Can soil biology tests improve phosphorus and potassium corn fertilizer recommendations?

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 114, Issue 6, Page 3457-3472, November/December 2022., 2022
Abstract Integrating soil health (SH) biological properties with soil fertility (SF) evaluations offers a unique opportunity to potentially refine fertilizer recommendations. The objectives of this research included: (a) evaluating current University of Missouri P and K fertilizer recommendations for corn (Zea mays L.) and (b) assess whether SH ...

Blind source separation communication anti-jamming technology and practice

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2023
Aiming at the threat of broad frequency band suppressing jamming and the inherent contradiction between spectrum resources and communication anti-jamming ability, a method was proposed to add the statistics domain dimension on the basis of spread ...

Porous Silicon Nanoneedles Efficiently Deliver Adenine Base Editor to Correct a Recurrent Pathogenic COL7A1 Variant in Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Base editing using nanoneedles efficiently corrects pathogenic variants in the type VII collagen gene of primary fibroblasts from patients with recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa. Nanoneedle editing induces minimal and reversible transcriptional perturbations while restoring the production and secretion of functional type VII collagen.

Replacing fallow with field pea in wheat production systems across western Nebraska

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 114, Issue 6, Page 3329-3346, November/December 2022., 2022
Abstract Integration of field pea (Pisum sativum L.) (FP) into dryland cropping systems has increased due to ecological and economic benefits, paired with a growing market for pea‐derived products. Challenges exist in the High Plains that limit the integration of crop rotations to replace fallow periods with FP in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)‐based ...

Importance of Electrostatic Effects for Interpretation of X‐ray Photoemission Spectra of Self‐Assembled Monolayers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This paper reviews the relevant work regarding electrostatic effects in X‐ray photoemission from self‐assembled monolayers. It is shown that these effects should be frequently considered at an equal footing as the generally accepted chemical shift ones for correct interpretation of the spectra. In addition, electrostatic effects represent a unique tool

The feasibility of launching and detecting jamming attacks in wireless networks

open access: yesACM Interational Symposium on Mobile Ad Hoc Networking and Computing, 2005
Wireless networks are built upon a shared medium that makes it easy for adversaries to launch jamming-style attacks. These attacks can be easily accomplished by an adversary emitting radio frequency signals that do not follow an underlying MAC protocol ...

Aspects of Jamming in Two-Dimensional Frictionless Systems [PDF]

open access: yesSoft Matter 10, 2932 (2014), 2013
In this work we provide an overview of jamming transitions in two dimensional systems focusing on the limit of frictionless particle interactions in the absence of thermal fluctuations. We first discuss jamming in systems with short range repulsive interactions, where the onset of jamming occurs at a critical packing density and where certain ...

Beta‐Lactoglobulin for Water‐Based and Tunable Nanostructure Templating of Printed Titania Thin Films: The Influence of pH Value and Protein Concentration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The synthesis route for the fabrication of nanostructured titania thin films focuses on water‐based solutions, abundant, nontoxic materials, and a highly scalable deposition technique. Using beta‐lactoglobulin enables tunable titania thin film templating and allows for different domain sizes, porosities, and morphologies.
