Volatile methyl jasmonate is a transmissible form of jasmonate and its biosynthesis is involved in systemic jasmonate response in wounding

Plant Biotechnology Reports, 2014
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) easily diffuse due to their high hydrophobicity. Because of this physical property, VOCs are able to act as crucial signalling molecules mediating intercellular and interplant communication. Methyl jasmonate (MeJA) is a volatile ester form of jasmonic acid (JA) that is involved in interplant communication in response ...

ARE JASMONATES (Jasmonic acid and Methyl jasmonate) A NEW CLASS OF PLANT HORMONES

2014

Jasmonates as signals in the wound response

Journal of Plant Growth Regulation, 2004
Plant responses to wounding and herbivore attack are orchestrated by complex signaling pathways that link the production of chemical and physical signals at the wound site to activation of gene expression and other cellular processes. The systemic nature of many wound-induced responses provides an attractive opportunity to study intercellular signaling

JAZing up jasmonate signaling

Trends in Plant Science, 2008
Recent discoveries show that jasmonate ZIM-domain (JAZ) transcriptional repressors are key regulators of jasmonate hormonal response. Jasmonate promotes interaction between JAZ proteins and the SCF(COI1) ubiquitin ligase, leading to JAZ degradation via the 26S proteasome in Arabidopsis thaliana.
