"Malignant disease in the jaws".
Journal of the Canadian Association of Radiologists, 1977Radiologic interpretation of malignant disease of the oral cavity, maxilla and mandible is often difficult. This is usually due to the fact that benign osseous diseases may mimic malignant lesions. This review attempts to provide a framework of interpretive criteria for establishing a radiologic diagnosis of malignancy.

In this chapter lesions and disorders are dealt with that may occur in the jaw bones. A distinction can be made between osseous lesions and lesions that are of odontogenic origin, such as odontogenic infections, cysts, and tumors. Furthermore, the jaw bones may be involved in a number of systemic diseases and syndromes.
