Effects of Optic Flow on Electrocortical Dynamics During Walking and Stepping Over Virtual Obstacles

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 64, Issue 6, September 2026.
Optic flow modulates cortical dynamics during obstacle avoidance by enhancing occipital theta synchronization before obstacle presentation and throughout the planning and obstacle‐clearance phases, while prolonging alpha desynchronization during obstacle negotiation.

Effective When Distinctive: The Role of Phonetic Similarity in Nested Dependency Learning Across Preschool Years

open access: yesLanguage Learning, Volume 76, Issue 3, Page 1027-1061, September 2026.
Abstract Parallel tracking of distant relations between speech elements, so‐called nonadjacent dependencies (NADs), is crucial in language development but computationally demanding and acquired only in late preschool years. As processing of single NADs is facilitated when dependent elements are perceptually similar, we investigated how phonetic ...

MiDAS: A Multimodal Data Acquisition System and Dataset for Robot‐Assisted Minimally Invasive Surgery

open access: yesThe International Journal of Medical Robotics and Computer Assisted Surgery, Volume 22, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Robot‐Assisted Minimally Invasive Surgery (RAMIS) research increasingly relies on multimodal data, yet access to proprietary robot telemetry remains a barrier. We introduce the Multimodal Data Acquisition System (MiDAS), an open‐source, platform‐agnostic system enabling time‐synchronized, non‐invasive multimodal data acquisition ...

Centering geospatial data uncertainty and the potential for injustice in pastoralist rangeland conservation prioritization

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract Procedural, distributional, recognitional, and epistemic justice aspects of conservation interventions are well documented in contexts where pastoralism is a key livelihood and way of life. Geospatial analyses and representations of wildlife conservation and restoration that are increasingly applied in pastoralist rangeland socioecological ...

The Possibility of Marcus Gunn Jaw-winking and Monocular Elevation Deficiency Being the Same Disease

open access: yesJournal of Pediatrics Review, 2020
Introduction: Marcus Gunn Jaw-Winking (MGJW) synkinesis is characterized by drooping eyelid and retraction with jaw movement. MGJW is usually seen alone, although familial cases have been documented.

Improved subjective sleep quality in older adults by enhancing the GABAergic system in the sensorimotor cortex

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 604, Issue 15, Page 6506-6546, 1 August 2026.
Abstract figure legend Sleep disturbances are common in older adults, highlighting the need for accessible interventions to improve sleep quality. Eighteen older adults per group (balance training and control) were assessed before and after 12 weeks. The balance group increased GABA levels (magnetic resonance spectroscopy) and functional connectivity ...

Tardive Dyskinesia Induced by Long‐Acting Injectable Paliperidone Palmitate Once Every 3 Months in a Patient With Schizophrenia: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Prolonged use of long‐acting injectable antipsychotics may lead to tardive dyskinesia (TD). Clinicians should regularly assess the risk of TD. They should promptly discontinue the long‐acting medication, switch to an antipsychotic with a low risk of TD, and initiate supportive care as soon as signs of TD appear.

Patterns of jaw coarticulatory direction and linguomandibular coordination in VCV sequences [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Data on lingual movement, dorsopalatal contact and F2 frequency presented in previous papers of ours (Recasens, 2002; Recasens and Pallarès, 2001; Recasens, Pallarès and Fontdevila, 1997) suggest that the degree of articulatory constraint (DAC) model ...
