Caring and killing: A human jellyfish story

open access: yesAnthropology Today, Volume 41, Issue 3, Page 11-14, June 2025.
The article centres on the idea of care in human attempts to remove microplastics from the water with the help of jellyfish bodies, asking: who is cared for, and who bears the cost for this care? It has recently come to light that jellyfish bodies have properties that can be utilized by humans to catch microplastics.

Closing the air gap: the use of drones for studying wildlife ecophysiology

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 100, Issue 3, Page 1206-1228, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Techniques for non‐invasive sampling of ecophysiological data in wild animals have been developed in response to challenges associated with studying captive animals or using invasive methods. Of these, drones, also known as Unoccupied Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and their associated sensors, have emerged as a promising tool in the ecophysiology ...

Effects of Adalimumab on Mitochondria of Psoriatic Mesenchymal Stem Cells

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 29, Issue 11, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Psoriasis is a systemic immune‐mediated disorder involving multiple signalling pathways. Recent attempts to treat psoriasis involve monoclonal antibodies that block different inflammatory pathways. The monoclonal antibody Adalimumab (ADM) is one of the biologics that block the inflammatory cascade of TNF‐alpha.

High‐quality genome of allotetraploid Avena barbata provides insights into the origin and evolution of B subgenome in Avena

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 67, Issue 6, Page 1515-1532, June 2025.
A high‐quality genome sequence of the tetraploid wild oat Avena barbata provides crucial genetic information for the Avena B‐genome, allowing clarification of the evolutionary trajectories of the four subgenomes within Avena and identification of numerous key genes related to environmental adaptability, thus offering valuable resources for oat breeding

Hypotheses in light detection by vertebrate ancient opsin in the bird brain

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, Volume 37, Issue 6, June 2025.
Abstract Extra‐retinal photoreception is common across fish and avian species. In birds, the hypothalamus contains non‐visual photoreceptors that detect light and regulate multiple endocrine systems. To date, light‐dependent control of seasonal reproduction is one of the most well‐studied systems that require deep brain photoreception.
