Digital Cognitive Phenotyping for Differential Diagnosis and Monitoring in Neurological Conditions

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To assess the utility, accessibility, and equivalence to supervised scales of online cognitive assessment in older individuals with cognitive impairment. Methods Patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD, n = 31), idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH, n = 26), and traumatic brain injury (TBI, n = 23) completed online cognitive ...

Respiratory severity score-guided postnatal systemic corticosteroid therapy for bronchopulmonary dysplasia in extremely preterm infants [PDF]

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Pediatrics
Background Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is a major complication in extremely preterm (EP) infants. Postnatal systemic corticosteroids reduce inflammation and may help prevent or treat BPD.

Universal Battery Capacity Degradation Forecasting Driven by Foundation Models Across Diverse Chemistries and Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A unified time‐series forecasting framework learns transferable battery capacity‐degradation patterns from 20 heterogeneous datasets spanning chemistries, formats, temperatures, and cycling conditions. A single model delivers competitive predictions on both known and previously unseen datasets, while physics‐guided representation learning improves ...

The Concept of the Mixing Index

open access: yesWater Resources Research
Many current measures of mixing, such as the statistics of concentration, the scalar dissipation rate, or dilution index, are based on the dilution of a single component or pseudo‐component. Because of this, they miss the influence of numerous conditions

The Jensen effect and functional single index models: Estimating the ecological implications of nonlinear reaction norms [PDF]

open access: yesThe Annals of Applied Statistics, 2020
This paper develops tools to characterize how species are affected by environmental variability, based on a functional single index model relating a response such as growth rate or survival to environmental conditions. In ecology, the curvature of such responses are used, via Jensen's inequality, to determine whether environmental variability is ...

High‐Throughput Screening for Accelerated Oxide Glass Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A high‐throughput screening platform is presented that allows for accelerating laboratory glass synthesis by a factor of 102, using multicomponent stereolithographic printing. Automatic sample evaluation is achieved via Raman spectroscopy and similarity analysis without any sample preparation.

Statistical complexity of cerebral blood velocity dynamics varies across graded arithmetic task demands

open access: yesNeuroscience Informatics
Increasing cognitive demand is accompanied by task-related cerebral hemodynamic changes but mean and variance alone may not describe their temporal organization.
