Jet shapes and jet algorithms in SCET [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2010
Jet shapes are weighted sums over the four-momenta of the constituents of a jet and reveal details of its internal structure, potentially allowing discrimination of its partonic origin. In this work we make predictions for quark and gluon jet shape distributions in N-jet final states in e+e- collisions, defined with a cone or recombination algorithm ...

Behavior of Water Jet Accompanied with Air Suction

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2007
In order to atomize a liquid, the authors have investigated the behavior of air-water jets. In a series of experiments, we have discovered a strange phenomenon that the water jet accompanied with air suction from the free surface has made a periodic ...

Jet observables without jet algorithms [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2014
We introduce a new class of event shapes to characterize the jet-like structure of an event. Like traditional event shapes, our observables are infrared/collinear safe and involve a sum over all hadrons in an event, but like a jet clustering algorithm, they incorporate a jet radius parameter and a transverse momentum cut.

Properties of the laminar-turbulent transition in a mixing layer by the low-frequency disturbance (Effect of the anti-symmetrical disturbance)

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2014
The laminar-turbulent transition of a mixing layer excited by oscillating flat plates at an exit of a two-dimensional nozzle was experimentally investigated. The mixing layer was formed between the jet issued from the nozzle and the surrounding quiescent

The Indian Easterly Jet During the Pre‐Monsoon Season in India

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
We identify for the first time an Indian Easterly Jet (IEJ) in the mid‐troposphere during the pre‐monsoon using reanalysis data. The IEJ is weaker and smaller than the African Easterly Jet over West Africa, with a climatological location of 10°N, 60–90°E,

The effect of nozzle geometry on the behavior of saline effluent discharged in an inclined submerged form with an angle of 60 ͦ [PDF]

open access: yesمهندسی عمران شریف, 2023
In recent decades, the increase in desalination plant construction along coastlines due to climate change and fresh water resource depletion has been a major concern.

A general algorithm for calculating jet cross sections in NLO QCD [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We present a new general algorithm for calculating arbitrary jet cross sections in arbitrary scattering processes to next-to-leading accuracy in perturbative QCD. The algorithm is based on the subtraction method. The key ingredients are new factorization

JEDI-net: a jet identification algorithm based on interaction networks [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal C, 2019
We investigate the performance of a jet identification algorithm based on interaction networks (JEDI-net) to identify all-hadronic decays of high-momentum heavy particles produced at the LHC and distinguish them from ordinary jets originating from the ...

Shattered pellet injection experiments at JET in support of the ITER disruption mitigation system design

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2021
A series of experiments have been executed at JET to assess the efficacy of the newly installed shattered pellet injection (SPI) system in mitigating the effects of disruptions. Issues, important for the ITER disruption mitigation system, such as thermal
