Control of a Circular Jet [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
The present study report direct numerical simulation (DNS) of a circular jet and the effect of a large scale perturbation at the jet inlet. The perturbation is used to control the jet for increased spreading. Dual-mode perturbation is obtained by combining an axisymmetric excitation with the helical.

All‐Cellulose‐Based Photonic Glitters

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Uniform, disc‐shaped photonic CNC glitters with adjustable structural colors and diameters are fabricated on hydrophilic ethyl cellulose films using electrospray deposition. By employing patterned ethyl cellulose films with pre‐designed hydrophilic regions, photonic patterns can be created with these all‐cellulose‐based glitters, demonstrating their ...

Micropolarity-Ramification of Laminar/Turbulent Circular-Plane-Jet [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
In the present work we formulated the boundary-value-problem, comprising partial differential equations (PDEs) of steady flow for laminar/turbulent circular jet of a micropolar fluid. A new boundary layer-similarity transformation/solution was derived which is valid not only for the Newtonian fluids but also for the micropolar fluids.

Carbon Nanotube 3D Integrated Circuits: From Design to Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
As Moore's law approaches its physical limits, carbon nanotube (CNT) 3D integrated circuits (ICs) emerge as a promising alternative due to the miniaturization, high mobility, and low power consumption. CNT 3D ICs in optoelectronics, memory, and monolithic ICs are reviewed while addressing challenges in fabrication, design, and integration.

Observations on sand jets in viscoplastic fluids

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, 2012
AbstractSand jet in non-Newtonian viscoplastic fluid is associated with a number of industrial and engineering applications, including sand capping for the reclamation of oilsands tailings ponds and sediment deposition into soft mud. In this study, several experiments were carried out by depositing circular sand jets vertically into viscoplastic fluids,

Active flow control of jet mixing using steady and pulsed fluid tabs

open access: yes, 2008
Flow control techniques for increasing the rate of jet mixing in axisymmetric nozzle flows have been investigated. A combination of water tunnel and high-speed airflow facilities is used to assess the near-field jet behaviour.

Sono‐Piezo‐Photosynthesis of Ethylene and Acetylene from Bioethanol under Ambient Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel sono‐piezo‐photocatalytic strategy enables the conversion of bioethanol to ethylene (C2H4) and acetylene (C2H2) under ambient conditions, addressing the limitations of conventional methods that are high‐temperature and energy‐intensive. By using an advanced graphene oxide/sodium bismuth titanate heterostructure catalyst, this work achieved ...

Investigation on spatial breakup characteristics of low-pressure jets with particle image velocimetry experiment and volume of fluid–level set simulation

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2016
In order to study the spatial breakup characteristics of the initial section of low-pressure jets, an experiment was performed to investigate the flow fields and concentration fields of jet flows with different nozzle geometric parameters and also the ...

Jets from Hollows [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
This fluid dynamics video presents the gravity-driven jets induced by the relaxation of large prolate bubbles or large holes at a free liquid surface. It shows that the jet developing inside a bubble can be strong enough to give rise to liquid projections shooting out way above the free surface.

Mixing of Fluid by Free Jets

open access: yesChemical engineering, 1964
