SPH Fluids for Viscous Jet Buckling
2014 27th SIBGRAPI Conference on Graphics, Patterns and Images, 2014We present a novel meshfree technique for animating free surface viscous liquids with jet buckling effects, such as coiling and folding. Our technique is based on Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) fluids and allows more realistic and complex viscous behaviors than the preceding SPH frameworks in computer animation literature.

A one dimensional theory of compressible inviscid fluid jets is established using a direct Cosserat type theory in contrast to procedures in which one dimensional equations are obtained by approximations of those used for a three dimensional theory. Applications are made to straight jets and circular rings.

Fluid jet polishing of optical surfaces
Applied Optics, 1998We present a new finishing process that is capable of locally shaping and polishing optical surfaces of complex shapes. A fluid jet system is used to guide a premixed slurry at pressures less than 6 bars to the optical surface. We used a slurry comprising water and 10% #800 SiC abrasives (21.8 mum) to reduce the surface roughness of a BK7 sample from ...

Impinging free jets of ideal fluid
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1998This paper studies the impinging of two ideal fluid jets. The usual two-dimensional model of jet flow uses an ideal, incompressible, weightless fluid to describe these impinging jets, so that the problem becomes one of complex analysis which seems to have an infinite number of analytical solutions, except for direct jet impacts.

Edge effect in fluid jet polishing
Applied Optics, 2006The edge effect is one of the most important subjects in optical manufacturing. The removal function at different positions of the sample in the process of fluid jet polishing (FJP) is investigated in the experiments. Furthermore, by using finite-element analysis (FEA), the distributions for velocity and pressure of slurry jets are simulated ...

Precipitative Growth Templated by a Fluid Jet
Langmuir, 2005Tubular growth by chemical precipitation at the interface between two fluids, a jet and its surroundings, underlies the development of such important structures as chimneys at hydrothermal vents. This growth is associated with strong thermal and/or solute gradients localized at those interfaces, and these gradients, in turn, often produce radial ...

Functional fluid jetting performance optimization
Microelectronics Reliability, 2010Abstract The manufacturing method utilizing digital printing technology offers alternatives to create electronic structures to be used even in microelectronic applications. Material deposition based on digital inkjet technology offers advantages over both traditional mask-etch technologies and other printing methods.

The Influence of Fluid Viscosity of Fluid Jetting Dispensing
High Density Design Packaging and Microsystem Integration, 2007 International Symposium on, 2007Fluid viscosity is a very important factor for fluid dispensing, and it has important effect on the volume and velocity of the fluid that jetting from the nozzle outlet. This paper analyses the force that the fluid gives to needle both with low and high viscosity situation and establishes formulas.

Formation of fluid structures due to jet-jet and jet-sheet interactions
Chemical Engineering Science, 2018Abstract The main focus of the present work is to investigate the collision of two oblique cylindrical water jets through a series of experiments. Different regimes for the collision of water jets are illustrated and transitions to the fingering instability and subsequently to the violent flapping regime are discussed.
