Large-bore tapered-roller bearing performance and endurance to 2.4 million DN [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
The operating characteristics and experimental life estimates for 120.65 mm bore tapered roller bearings of two designs under combined radial and thrust loads were determined. A modified standard bearing design was tested at speeds up to 15,000 rpm.

Experimental Analysis of Recirculating Lubrication and Jet Lubrication on Tapered Roller Bearings

open access: yes, 2022
To provide improved recommendations for selecting an adequate lubrication method for tapered roller bearings (TRB’s), detailed measurements of global friction and temperature distribution in TRB is performed as function of different speed, loads. Moreover, different lubrication methods will be investigated, considering different oil levels in the ...

Visualization of piston engine cylinder oil-jet lubricating process

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2019
Topicality, purpose, objects, means, methods and some results concerning experimental research of oil-jet supply cylinder of a high-speed low-sized piston engine due to spraying oil from connecting rod special holes are presented. The straight visualization of this process by means of a breadboard plant with optical transparent cylinder and piston made

Multimodal Locomotion in Insect‐Inspired Microrobots: A Review of Strategies for Aerial, Surface, Aquatic, and Interfacial Motion

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This review identifies key design considerations for insect‐inspired microrobots capable of multimodal locomotion. To draw inspiration, biological and robotic strategies for moving in air, on water surfaces, and underwater are examined, along with approaches for crossing the air–water interface.

Tumbling Magnetic Microrobots for Targeted In Vivo Drug Delivery in the GI Tract

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
We introduce a microrobot design and integrated system for on‐demand targeted drug release in the gastrointestinal tract. The microrobot has an embedded magnet for actuation with external magnetic fields and is visualized in real time using ultrasound. It has two drug release ports sealed with a thermally sensitive wax. Local heating of the wax using a

The Enhancement of Oil Delivery and Bearing Performance via a Guiding-Structured Nozzle under Oil–Air Lubrication

open access: yesLubricants
The oil–air lubrication method is specifically employed for high or ultra-high-speed spindle rolling bearings. Under high-speed conditions, the air curtain formed inside the bearing cavity obstructs oil delivery, thereby limiting further increases in ...

Utilization of teflon and aluminum oxide for wheel cleaning in Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) grinding [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2013
Researches concerning cooling-lubrication optimization in grinding have been conducted to contribute to a more sustainable process. An alternative to flood coolant is minimum quantity lubrication (MQL), which spray oil droplets in a compressed air jet ...

Spatiotemporal instability of a confined capillary jet

open access: yes, 2008
Recent experimental studies on the instability appearance of capillary jets have revealed the capabilities of linear spatiotemporal instability analysis to predict the parametrical map where steady jetting or dripping takes place.

Transforming Grain‐Boundary Brittle Precipitates to Ductility Pathways in Complex Concentrated Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By engineering graded BCC/L12 interfaces, brittle precipitates in a complex concentrated alloy enable sequential deformation, realizing gigapascal strength with >20% elongation to solve the strength‐ductility trade‐off. ABSTRACT Conventional wisdom holds that hard grain‐boundary (GB) precipitates embrittle structural alloys by acting as crack ...
