Bioinspired Hierarchical Architecture with Water Transport Channels for Strong Adhesion at the Sweating Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
To address adhesion failure in sweaty epidermal electronics, this study proposes a cross‐species, multi‐scale biomimetic interface. By modeling staged wet adhesion, it integrates self‐regulating liquid bridges with directional drainage. This design ensures stable, high‐performance flexible sensing in complex physiological environments, offering a ...

Investigation of the effects of a moving acoustic medium on jet noise measurements [PDF]

open access: yes
Noise from an unheated sonic jet in the presence of an external flow is measured in a free-jet wind tunnel using microphones located both inside and outside the flow. Comparison of the data is made with results of similar studies.

Fabrication of High‐Density Multimodal Neural Probes Based on Heterogeneously Integrated CMOS

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A chiplet‐based methodology democratizes active neural probe development on standard bulk CMOS services. This yields the first probe combining high‐density electrophysiology (416 electrodes) with calcium imaging (832 photodiodes) and complete on‐chip signal processing across 13 shanks.

Flight effects on the aero/acoustic characteristics of inverted profile coannular nozzles [PDF]

open access: yes
The effect of simulated flight speed on the acoustic and aerodynamic characteristics of coannular nozzles is examined. The noise and aerodynamic performance of the coannular nozzle exhaust systems over a large range of operating flight conditions is ...

MGDP: Mastering a Generalized Depth Perception Model for Quadruped Locomotion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Perception‐based Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) controllers demonstrate impressive performance on challenging terrains. However, existing controllers still face core limitations, struggling to achieve both terrain generality and platform transferability, and are constrained by high computational overhead and sensitivity to sensor noise.

Measurements of V/STOL aircraft noise mechanisms using pressure cross-correlation techniques in a reverberant wind tunnel [PDF]

open access: yes
A 3.8 cm. model jet was operated in a wind tunnel with cross-flow in order to determine the effect on jet noise radiated characteristics. A method was developed for the determination of noise radiating characteristics of sources within reverberant wind ...

Friend, Not Foe: Lowered Tissue Reactivity to Long‐Term Polyimide Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The choice of optimal neural probe designs remains a major challenge in the field of neurotechnology. This study investigated the biocompatibility of several probe variations, including material, thickness, width, and implantation strategy. It highlights the clear advantage of soft polyimide probes over stiff silicon probes for better device ...

Jet noise suppression by porous plug nozzles [PDF]

open access: yes
Jet noise suppression data presented earlier by Maestrello for porous plug nozzles were supplemented by the testing of a family of nozzles having an equivalent throat diameter of 11.77 cm.
