Relationship between locus coeruleus and slow-wave sleep in aging and Alzheimer's disease. [PDF]

open access: yesAlzheimers Dement
Abstract INTRODUCTION Sleep disruption, particularly loss of slow‐wave sleep (SWS), is common in Alzheimer's disease (AD), but its neurobiological underpinnings remain unclear. We investigated whether locus coeruleus (LC) integrity relates to SWS across the AD continuum and whether sex and perivascular spaces (PVSs) modify these associations.

ChREBP-driven DNL and PNPLA3 Expression Induced by Liquid Fructose are Essential in the Production of Fatty Liver and Hypertriglyceridemia in a High-Fat Diet-Fed Rat Model. [PDF]

open access: yesMol Nutr Food Res, 2022
Rats receive a high fat diet with (HFHFr) and without liquid fructose (HFD). At the end of the experiment, body weight is unchanged, due to increased in thermogenesis. There are minor metabolic changes in livers from HFD‐fed rats, while HFHFr fed‐rats show liver steatosis and hypertriglyceridemia.

Abstract INTRODUCTION This study examined the relationship between blood‐brain‐barrier permeability (BBBp), measured by cerebrospinal fluid/serum albumin ratio (QAlb), and cognitive decline progression in a clinical cohort. METHODS This prospective observational study included 334 participants from the BIODEGMAR cohort.

Abstract The circumstances surrounding the call for a referendum on national independence in Catalonia in October 2017 led to high levels of collaboration between two, at first sight, unlikely partners: anarchists and Catalan independentists. Unlikely as this alliance may seem, it was well grounded on a number of factors: first of all, in the State ...

Computational Models for Forecasting Electric Vehicle Energy Demand

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Electric vehicles (EV) are fast becoming an integral part of our evolving society. There is a growing movement in advanced countries to replace gas‐driven vehicles with EVs towards cutting down pollution from emissions. Between governance‐driven democratisation and democracy‐driven governance: Explaining changes in participatory governance in the case of Barcelona

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Political Research, Volume 60, Issue 3, Page 716-737, August 2021., 2021
Abstract Scholars of participatory democracy have long noted dynamic interactions and transformations within and between political spaces that can foster (de)democratisation.
