On the selection of Johnson-Cook constitutive model parameters for Ti-6Al-4V using three types of numerical models of orthogonal cutting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Johnson-Cook constitutive model is still the most used model in metal cutting simulation, although several drawbacks reported in the literature. A high number of Johnson-Cook model parameters can be found in the literature for the same work material. One

Strain rate behaviour of multi-phase and complex-phase steels for automotive applications

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2012
A combined study on the mechanical behaviour of multi-phase 800 high yield strength steel (MP800HY) and complex-phase 800 steel (CP800) is carried out under tensile loads in the strain rate range from 0.001s−1 to 750s−1. Quasi-static (0.001s−1) tests are

Use of the quasi-static Johnson-Cook model in the failure assessment of tensile specimens with metallurgical constraints

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Mechanics - A/Solids, 2020
Direct quenching has recently been used to develop cost-effective novel high and ultra-high strength steels. In weldments made of these steels, a distinct soft zone, which can lower the ultimate strength and deformation capacity of the welded joint, can ...

Chip‐Integrated Metasurface‐GaAsSb Nanowire Array Photodetectors for Single‐Pixel Polarimetric Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A 2×2 multiplexed GaAsSb nanowire photodetector array integrated with L‐shaped metasurfaces is developed for miniaturized infrared polarimetry. Leveraging non‐radiating anapole states that facilitate near‐field enhancement, the device demonstrates strong polarization selectivity at 835 nm.

Sex‐Specific Regulation of Glycemic Homeostasis by Theabrownin from Pu‐erh Tea

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pu‐erh tea's key component, theabrownin (TB), lowers blood glucose in a sex‐specific manner. In females, estrogen boosts intestinal MUC2 production, which dramatically enhances TB's ability to inhibit the carbohydrate‐digesting enzyme α‐glucosidase.

State of stress of a hull structure rammed by the bow of another vessel

open access: yesAnnals of "Dunărea de Jos" University of Galaţi: Fascicle XI Shipbuilding, 2016
The study of structural strength of the hull structure is essential to determine the safety and integrity of the ship, in case of collision. The objective of this work is to study the impact loading of a ship bow on a strengthened plane structure, using ...

Analysis of the High Temperature Plastic Deformation Characteristics of 18CrNi4A Steel and Establishment of a Modified Johnson–Cook Constitutive Model

open access: yes, 2023
To investigate the plastic deformation behavior of 18CrNi4A steel at high temperatures, an isothermal hot compression test was conducted on a Thermecmastor-Z series test machine at deformation temperatures from 1273 K to 1423 K and strain rates

Atomic Tuning of Metal‐Support Interactions for Pathway‐Selective CO2 Photoreduction on TiO2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐atom Fe and Cu catalysts anchored on TiO2 steer photocatalytic CO2 reduction toward distinct pathways. Fe sites favor rapid *CO desorption and selective CO formation, whereas Cu sites stabilize *CHO intermediates, enabling deep reduction and C─C coupling. Combined spectroscopy and DFT calculations reveal how metal–support interactions and oxygen
