Algebraic Hyperstructures and Fuzzy Logic in the Treatment of Uncertainty

open access: yesScience & Philosophy, 2016
This study presents some fundamental aspects of recent theories  on algebraic Hyperstructures, an important tool for an interdisciplinary vision of Geometry and Algebra.

Lifting of level-1 states in the D1D5 CFT

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
The D1D5 CFT has a large set of states that are supersymmetric at the ‘free’ orbifold point in moduli space. When we perturb away from this point, some of these states join into long multiplets and lift in energy, while others remain supersymmetric.

Ironic Medications: A Narrative‐Based Psycho‐Educational Intervention to Explore Patient–Provider Communication in Adolescents With Haematological Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Adolescents with haematological malignancies face significant emotional and relational challenges, often accompanied by difficulties in communicating their needs within the healthcare context. To address these issues, a narrative‐based psycho‐educational intervention based on the creation and prescription of Ironic Medications was ...

Natural Killer Cells in Paediatric Soft Tissue Sarcomas: A Systematic Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Paediatric soft tissue sarcomas (pSTS) are a rare and heterogeneous group of malignant tumours arising in tissues of mesenchymal origin. The role of natural killer (NK) cells in pSTS remains poorly understood, with evidence fragmented across small preclinical studies and early‐phase clinical trials.

On the Variety of Paths on Complete Intersections in Grassmannians

open access: yesМоделирование и анализ информационных систем, 2014
In this article we study the Fano variety of lines on the complete intersection of the grassmannian G(n, 2n) with hypersurfaces of degrees d1 ..., di . A length l path on such a variety is a connected curve composed of l lines.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The Optimization of Cost-Model for Join Operator on Spark SQL Platform

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Spark needs to use lots of memory resources, network resources and disk I/O resources when Spark SQL execute Join operation. The Join operation will greatly affect the performance of Spark SQL.

Flows and joins of metric spaces [PDF]

open access: yesGeometry & Topology, 2005
We introduce the functor * which assigns to every metric space X its symmetric join *X. As a set, *X is a union of intervals connecting ordered pairs of points in X. Topologically, *X is a natural quotient of the usual join of X with itself. We define an Isom(X)-invariant metric d* on *X. Classical concepts known for H^n and negatively curved manifolds

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Shared Execution Approach to ε-Distance Join Queries in Dynamic Road Networks

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2018
Given a threshold distance ε and two object sets R and S in a road network, an ε-distance join query finds object pairs from R × S that are within the threshold distance ε (e.g., find passenger and taxicab pairs within a ...
