Flows and joins of metric spaces [PDF]

open access: yesGeometry & Topology, 2005
We introduce the functor * which assigns to every metric space X its symmetric join *X. As a set, *X is a union of intervals connecting ordered pairs of points in X. Topologically, *X is a natural quotient of the usual join of X with itself. We define an Isom(X)-invariant metric d* on *X. Classical concepts known for H^n and negatively curved manifolds

Transposition Hypergroups: Noncommutative Join Spaces

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 1997
A transposition hyperqroup is a hypergroup \(H\) for which: \((b\setminus a)\cap(c/d)\neq\emptyset\) implies \(ad\cap bc\neq\emptyset\), for every \(a\), \(b\), \(c\), \(d\) in \(H\), where \(b\setminus a=\{x\in H\mid a\in bx\}\) and \(c/d=\{x\in H\mid c\in xd\}\). Introducing this notion, the author treats from a unique point of view several algebraic

Welcome to the Neighborhood: Assessing Localized Social Media Use and Pro-Community Attitudes in a Multi-National Survey

open access: yesSocial Media + Society
In the void left by struggling local media, localized social media systems have proliferated on the web as key avenues for the exchange of location-specific information. Yet, as local ecosystems shift, there is a need to understand the types of audiences

Endpoints in T0-Quasimetric Spaces: Part II

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2013
We continue our work on endpoints and startpoints in T0-quasimetric spaces. In particular we specialize some of our earlier results to the case of two-valued T0-quasimetrics, that is, essentially, to partial orders.

The Meaningful Lived Space of the Acute Stroke Unit: Creating Maps to Evoke the Experience of Stroke Survivors and Health Care Practitioners

open access: yesInternational Journal of Qualitative Methods, 2020
Despite advocates for aesthetic forms of presentation in qualitative enquiry, for going beyond thin description, to share evocative forms of representation that resonate with that (Todres, 2008; Todres & Galvin, 2008), qualitative research in the health ...

MULTIVALUED FUNCTIONS, FUZZY SUBSETS AND JOIN SPACES

open access: yesRatio Mathematica, 2010
One has considered the Hypergroupoid Η Γ = < H;ο Γ > associated with a multivalued function Γ from H to a set D, defined as follows: ∀ x ∈ H, x ο Γ x = ⎨y⏐ Γ(y) ∩ Γ(x) ≠ ∅⎬ , ∀ (y,z) ∈ H 2 , y ο Γ z = y ο Γ y ∪ z ο Γ z , and one has calculated the fuzzy ...
