Integrative single cell RNA‐sequencing and spatial transcriptomics uncovers distinct macrophage‐fibroblast cross‐talk in human hip synovium between patients with femoroacetabular impingement and osteoarthritis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Objectives Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and synovitis have been recognized as essential factors for developing osteoarthritis (OA) in the hip joints. However, little is known about altered synovial cellular compositions, their associated transcriptomic profiles, and cell‐cell interactions in FAI and hip OA.

Morphological Analysis of the Latissimus Dorsi Tendon Insertion: Implications for Optimizing Tendon Transfer Surgeries in Rotator Cuff Repair

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Latissimus dorsi (LD) tendon transfer is widely used to treat irreparable rotator cuff tears, particularly in cases with posterosuperior and anterosuperior tear patterns. We conducted a comprehensive anatomical analysis of the attachment of the LD tendon to the humerus, focusing on its morphological patterns and morphometric features, which ...

Grooved Surface of the Obturator Internus Muscle With Two Distinct Adjacent Parts

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The specific anatomical features of the obturator internus, particularly those of its medial surface, remain insufficiently characterized. This study investigated the morphology of the obturator internus muscle by focusing on the shape of its medial surface and potential age‐related changes.

Cancer Following Total Joint Arthroplasty [PDF]

open access: yesCancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, 2007
To the Editors: The recent meta-analysis by Onega et al. ([1][1]) recorded an increased risk for melanoma and prostate cancer following total joint arthroplasty. The authors conclude that the results are likely to represent chance or bias, particularly because there is no obvious mechanism for ...

Diagnostic Performance of Ultrasound to Evaluate Mild Hip Osteoarthritis: Comparison With Radiography and MRI

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, EarlyView.
A moderate‐sized femoral neck osteophyte (white arrow) in US (A), anteroposterior CR (B), and MRI (C). Additional osteoarthritis‐related changes (arrowheads) are visible in CR and MR, but not in US. US and CR demonstrated similar moderate diagnostic capability to detect mild hip osteoarthritis and were associated with increased hip pain.

Corrosion in Modular Revision Hip Stem Tapers – A Retrieval Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In revision hip arthroplasty, modular stems enable intraoperative adjustment of the biomechanics of the hip to ensure a stable joint function even in complex anatomical cases. Modular stem junctions, however, carry the risk of junction degradation due to corrosive processes or even junction breakage.

The Importance of Modeling Press‐Fit to Accurately Evaluate Interfacial Micromotion as an Indicator of Primary Stability in Uncemented Arthroplasty

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Arthroplasty is most often performed to alleviate pain and restore function in patients with end‐stage degenerative joint disease. Uncemented implant fixation is increasingly used in total knee and total ankle arthroplasty. Implantation using interference press‐fit is a manufacturer‐recommended guideline for achieving stable primary fixation ...
