The Proof Is in the Eating: Lessons Learnt from One Year of Generative AI Adoption in a Science-for-Policy Organisation

open access: yesAI
This paper presents the key results of a large-scale empirical study on the adoption of Generative AI (GenAI) by the Joint Research Centre (JRC), the European Commission’s science-for-policy department.

Free Vibration of a Taut Cable with Two Discrete Inertial Mass Dampers

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Recently, inertial mass dampers (IMDs) have shown superior control performance over traditional viscous dampers (VDs) in vibration control of stay cables.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Multilevel Behavioral Synchronization in a Joint Tower-Building Task [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Cognitive and Developmental Systems, 2017
Human to human sensorimotor interaction can only be fully understood by modeling the patterns of bodily synchronization and reconstructing the underlying mechanisms of optimal cooperation. We designed a tower-building task to address such a goal. We recorded upper body kinematics of dyads and focused on the velocity profiles of the head and wrist.

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

NON-PLANAR BEAM-WALL JOINTS IN TALL BUILDING STRUCTURES. [PDF]

open access: yesICE Proceedings, Structures and Buildings, 2000
Stress concentration and local deformation occur at both coplanar and non-planar beam–wall joints. However, over the years, only coplanar joints have been studied in detail. Very few studies on non-planar joints have been carried out and most designers still treat non-planar joints as hinges and neglect the possible coupling effect of beams connected ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
