Clinical Validation of Artificial Intelligence (AI)‐based Cartilage Segmentation Predicting Knee Replacement

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective For cartilage morphology to serve as a scalable endpoint in clinical trials, analyses should be performed automatically without human interaction. To clinically validate artificial intelligence (AI)‐based analysis, we studied cartilage loss from MRI prior to knee replacement.

Clinical Outcomes of Collagenase Injections in Management of Dupuytren Contracture of the Proximal Interphalangeal Joint

open access: yesJournal of Hand Surgery Global Online
Purpose: Dupuytren contracture is characterized by the formation of cords and nodules in the palm. Surgical release has historically been the definitive treatment. Collagenase clostridium histolyticum (CCH) has been used successfully as an alternative to

Automated Hand Flexor Tendon–Thickness Measurement in Systemic Sclerosis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Systemic sclerosis (SSc) can affect flexor tendons, contributing to hand function problems and reduced quality of life. Tendon changes are currently assessed with ultrasonography and measured manually, a time‐consuming process prone to interobserver variability.

Is an Apple an Orange? A Large Language Model Benchmark for Candidate Term Extraction and Subclass Decisions Against Upper Ontologies in Engineering and Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Building machine‐readable vocabularies for materials science is slow, expert‐driven work. This study benchmarks 13 large language models on two of its first steps: finding candidate terms in engineering articles and deciding where they belong in a class hierarchy.

Three-dimensional Reconstruction of Scar Contracture-bearing Axilla and Digital Webs Using the Square Flap Method

open access: yesPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Global Open, 2014
Background: Joint scar contractures are characterized by tight bands of soft tissue that bridge the 2 ends of the joint like a web. Classical treatment methods such as Z-plasties are mainly based on 2-dimensional designs.

Entropy‐Driven Design of Low‐Melting‐Point Alloys via Compositionally Complex Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Conventional low‐melting‐point alloys (LMPAs) are limited by a narrow compositional space and inherent property trade‐offs. This review presents an entropy‐driven design strategy that overcomes these limitations, ushering in a new class of low‐melting‐point compositionally complex alloys (LMCCAs).

Rapidly Solidified High‐Strength Invar 36 Prepared by Planar‐Flow Melt Spinning

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The Invar 36 alloy was rapidly solidified using the planar‐flow melt‐spinning technique. Ribbon samples with thicknesses ranging from 20 to 160 mm were produced. As the grain size of the ribbon decreased to sub‐micron levels, the hardness increased by more than 2 times.

Collagenase Management of Multicord Dupuytren’s Disease under Intravenous Sedation: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Global Open, 2019
Background:. Surgery has been the standard of care in managing Dupuytren’s disease (DD). Recently collagenase of Clostridium histolyticum (CCH) has provided a less invasive alternative. The purpose of the current study is to present the early outcomes of
