Recapitulating Endochondral Ossification for Bone Repair: From Development to Engineering Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the developmental basis of endochondral ossification (ECO) and its applications in bone tissue engineering (BTE). It first outlines the key biological processes and signaling pathways underlying ECO, then discusses biomaterial‐based engineering strategies derived from these principles, and finally highlights future directions for

Beyond Presumptions: Toward Mechanistic Clarity in Metal‐Free Carbon Catalysts for Electrochemical H2O2 Production via Data Science

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐free carbon catalysts enable the sustainable synthesis of hydrogen peroxide via two‐electron oxygen reduction; however, active site complexity continues to hinder reliable interpretation. This review critiques correlation‐based approaches and highlights the importance of orthogonal experimental designs, standardized catalyst passports ...

Posterior Interosseous Nerve Injury From Chronic Monteggia Fracture Dislocation Requiring Nerve Reconstruction

open access: yesJournal of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America
Monteggia fracture-dislocations are rare elbow injuries in the pediatric population. Multiple case reports have described posterior interosseous nerve (PIN) palsies in the setting of Monteggia fracture-dislocations, usually due to stretch neuropraxia. In

Crystal Growth Engineering for Dendrite‐Free Zinc Metal Plating

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This research employed the rare‐earth ion dysprosium (Dy) to modulate aqueous zinc (Zn) metal plating. Integrated multiscale experiments and computational modeling unveiled the preferential adsorption of Dy on specific crystal facets, which activated screw dislocation‐driven Zn growth.

The Peierls-Nabarro model as a limit of a Frenkel-Kontorova model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We study a generalization of the fully overdamped Frenkel-Kontorova model in dimension $n\geq 1.$ This model describes the evolution of the position of each atom in a crystal, and is mathematically given by an infinite system of coupled first order ODEs.
