Power-Type Structural Self-Constrained Inversion Methods of Gravity and Magnetic Data

open access: yesRemote Sensing
The inversion of gravity and magnetic data can obtain the density and magnetic structure of underground space, which provide important information for resource exploration and geological structure division.

Crustal Structure in Southeastern Texas From Joint Inversion of Ambient Seismic Noise and P to S Receiver Functions

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2020
The detection and classification of earthquakes in regions previously considered aseismic has led to significant advances in our understanding of anthropogenically induced earthquakes in productive basins. The Eagle Ford of southeastern Texas is one such

High Entropy Wide‐Bandgap Borates with Broadband Luminescence and Large Nonlinear Optical properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐entropy rare‐earth borates exhibit excellent nonlinear optical and broadband luminescence properties arising from multi‐component doping, chemical disorder, increased configurational entropy, and increased lattice and electronic anharmonicity. This formulation enabled us to obtain a large, environmentally stable single crystal with 3X higher laser‐

A coupled parametric and nonparametric approach for modal analysis of a satellite [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This study takes place in the context of dynamical prediction for satellite structures. Aims of such studies are to survey the dynamical response of satellite equipment and components, to check that requirements are correct and to give prediction of ...

A permutation code preserving a double Eulerian bistatistic

open access: yes, 2016
Visontai conjectured in 2013 that the joint distribution of ascent and distinct nonzero value numbers on the set of subexcedant sequences is the same as that of descent and inverse descent numbers on the set of permutations.

MAGTWIST: A Magnetically‐Driven Rotary Actuator Using a Traveling‐Wave With Integrated Stiffness Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAGTWIST: A compact magnetic rotary actuator, enabling smooth, stepless rotation, and on‐demand locking. Inspired by peristalsis, a soft polymer belt generates a traveling‐wave, enabling 270° rotation when heated. Cooling stiffens the belt, locking it in position and enabling it to withstand high loads.

A "One-line" Simulator for Maxima or Minima on Drifting Brownian Paths [PDF]

open access: yes
A simple transform of a standard uniform variate is given for simulation of the maximum attained by a Wiener process with drift, conditioned upon the level attained by the process over an arbitrary time interval.

The Cuttlebone Blueprint for Multifunctional Metamaterials: Design Taxonomy, Functional Decoupling, and Future Horizons

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cuttlebone‐inspired metamaterials exploit a septum‐wall architecture to achieve excellent mechanical and functional properties. This review classifies existing designs into direct biomimetic, honeycomb‐type, and strut‐type architectures, summarizes governing design principles, and presents a decoupled design framework for interpreting multiphysical ...

Bio‐Inspired Multimodal Hardware Front‐End Enabled by 2D Floating‐Gate Memory for UAV Perception

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A MoS2/h‐BN /graphene floating‐gate memory underpins a bio‐inspired multimodal front end that integrates visual, inertial, and airflow cues. A 4 × 4 FG memory array encodes temporal intensity differences, while IMU‐ and airflow‐driven threshold modulation suppresses self‐motion artifacts, enabling fast, low‐power, robust autonomous UAV tracking and ...
