The Strength of Adhesive Joints

The Journal of Adhesion, 1972
Abstract The main rules pertaining to the strength of adhesive joints are: (1) This strength is a mechanical (or rheological) property. The local stress which causes the extension of a pre-existing crack can be determined only if the stress pattern in the whole adhint is known and the intensification of stress at flaws is taken into account.

Joint strength of laser-welded titanium

Dental Materials, 2002
The objective of this study was to examine the joint strength of titanium laser-welding using several levels of laser output energy [current (A)].Cast titanium plates (0.5 x 3.0 x 40 and 1.0 x 3.0 x 40 mm(3)) were prepared and perpendicularly cut at the center of the plate.

Strength Mechanisms of Dental Solder Joints

Journal of Dental Research, 1974
Derivations of the triaxial state of stress and relative strain rate within the solder agree with the types of strengthening found in soft lead-tin solder butt joints. But for the dental gold casting alloys and hard gold solders tested, joint strengths were only influenced by porosity and not by size or rate of testing.

Strength of threaded joints

Russian Engineering Research, 2012
Fatigue tests of threaded joints are required to establish their fatigue strength. The manufacture of bolts, screws, pins, and nuts with MJ metric threads is expedient.

The Strength of Riveted Joints

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1945
A CONSIDERABLE volume of data on the strength of typical aircraft rivets in joints of Alclad (D.T.D. 390) sheet, has been published in the M.A.P.'s Scientific and Technical Memorandum series. The need for such an investigation arose from the use by the stress offices of different aircraft manufacturers, of strength figures which showed little unanimity

The Strength of Dissimilar Fractal Joints

Volume 9: Mechanics of Solids, Structures and Fluids; NDE, Diagnosis, and Prognosis, 2016
In this investigation, the influences of fractal geometry and material properties on the strength of dissimilar joints were studied. The fractal geometry explored was an iterative Koch curve. The interfacial layer joining two different materials was designed to be a Koch layer with three different numbers of iteration.

Isokinetic strength aspects in human joints and muscles

Applied Ergonomics, 1991
The isokinetic concept of exercise has become an increasingly popular means to assess musculoskeletal function. The isokinetic apparatus enables the control of angular velocity of the moving limb (which is held constant during the range of movement) whilst giving an accomodated resistance.

Fatigue Strength of Tubular Joints

1985
Parametric equations developed earlier for stress concentration factors (SCF) and strain concentration factors (SNCF) for tubular joints are mainly dependent upon the increase in stress and strain due to geo-metric, notch and weld effects. Fatigue failure criteria were also formulated from the above.
