Simplified procedures for designing composite bolted joints [PDF]

open access: yes
Simplified procedures are described to design and analyze single and multi-bolt composite joints. Numerical examples illustrate the use of these methods. Factors affecting composite bolted joints are summarized.

Multi–scale modelling of timber–frame structures under seismic loads [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper introduces a versatile hysteretic constitutive law, developed for various joints with steel fasteners commonly used in timber structures (nails, screws, staples, 3D connectors of bracket type, punched plates). Compared to previous

Performance of bolted steel-beam to CFST-column joints using stiffened angles in column-removal scenario [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This paper presents three experimental investigations on the performance of steel-beam to CFST-column joints using stiffened angle, long bolts and fin plate under a middle column removal scenario. Three specimens were designed and tested.

Iron homeostasis disruption and lipid peroxidation in skeletal muscle during short‐term immobilization

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

Interrelation of Rheologic and Surfactant Properties of Blood Serum in Patients with Psoriasis and Arthritis

open access: yesBolʹ, Sustavy, Pozvonočnik, 2015
Changes in the rheological properties of the blood in patients with psoriasis is manifested by increased performance of the surface elasticity, bulk viscosity and integral angular viscoelasticity on the background of reduced angulation of tensiorheogram,

Spectrum of arthroscopic findings in 84 canine elbow joints diagnosed with medial compartment erosion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Elbow dysplasia is an important cause of forelimb lameness in large breed dogs. The aim of this study was to report on the arthroscopic findings associated with medial compartment erosion (MCE) of the canine elbow joint.

Real‐World Investigation of Satralizumab in Patients With Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Satralizumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting the interleukin‐6 receptor, has demonstrated efficacy in clinical trials for neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). However, its real‐world effectiveness and safety compared to conventional immunosuppressive therapies remain uncertain.

Imaging Evaluation of Periarticular Soft Tissue Masses in the Appendicular Skeleton: A Pictorial Review

open access: yesJournal of Imaging
Soft tissue masses are predominantly benign, with a benign-to-malignant ratio exceeding 100:1, often located around joints. They may be contiguous or adjacent to joints or reflect systemic diseases or distant organ involvement. Clinically, they typically

The McCance Brain Care Score and Mortality: Evidence From a Large‐Scale Population‐Based Cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives This study aimed to examine the relationship between the McCance Brain Care Score (BCS) and mortality in the general population. Methods We conducted a prospective, population‐based cohort study using data from the UK Biobank. Participants with complete data enabling calculation of BCS and full mortality information were included ...

Cartilage and diarthrodial joints as paradigms for hierarchical materials and structures.

open access: yesBiomaterials, 1992
The anatomic forms of diarthrodial joints are important structural features which provide and limit the motions required for the joint. Typically, the length scale of topographic variation of anatomic forms ranges from 0.5 to 15 cm.
