Contrasting Patterns of Inbreeding and Inbreeding Depression in Co-Occurring Spotted Turtle and Eastern Box Turtle Populations. [PDF]
We found that while spotted turtles had smaller population sizes, occupied smaller habitat patches, had smaller home ranges, and had higher baseline physiological stress levels than box turtles, the box turtle populations had much higher inbreeding coefficients than the spotted turtle populations.

Weather Extremes in the Mediterranean Winter Are Associated With Reduced Apparent Survival and Delayed Initiation of Egg-Laying in a Migratory Raptor. [PDF]
We analysed capture‐recapture data of breeding Eurasian kestrels (Falco tinnunculus) in western Finland during 1985–2018 to study how environmental conditions in their boreal breeding areas and Mediterranean wintering areas affect adult survival rate and timing of laying.

Species living in spatially structured populations require a network of interconnected habitat patches. Due to changes in forest management, this network of habitat patches has been lost for insect species inhabiting open spots within forests. We studied

The abundance of large, piscivorous Ferox Trout (Salmo trutta) in Loch Rannoch, Scotland [PDF]
Background Ferox Trout are large, long-lived piscivorous Brown Trout (Salmo trutta). Due to their exceptionally large size, Ferox Trout are highly sought after by anglers while their life-history strategy, which includes delayed maturation, multiphasic ...

The Jolly-Seber-Tag-Loss model with group heterogeneity [PDF]
Mark-recapture experiments are performed to estimate population parameters such as survival probabilities. Animals are captured, tagged, released, and recaptured at subsequent time periods in order to obtain parameter information. The Jolly-Seber-Tag-Loss (JSTL) model (Cowen & Schwarz, 2006) requires some individuals to be double tagged in order to

Aspects of demography in three distinct populations of garden dormouse, Eliomys quercinus, across Italy and Spain [PDF]
Comparative aspects of the demography were investigated in three distinct populations of the ecologically poorly studied rodent Eliomys quercinus, in Spain and Italy.

The fishing and natural mortality of large, piscivorous Bull Trout and Rainbow Trout in Kootenay Lake, British Columbia (2008–2013) [PDF]
Background Estimates of fishing and natural mortality are important for understanding, and ultimately managing, commercial and recreational fisheries.

Quantifying whether different demographic models produce incongruent results on population dynamics of two long-term studied rodent species [PDF]
1. Population density (ind/ha) of long-term (>15 years) series of CMR populations, using distinct demographic models designed for both open and closed populations, were analysed for two sympatric species of rodents (Myodes glareolus and ...
